A.i.r?

Hi.

I'am doing some upgrades.. So have the tranny off.
I deleted the EGR a while back and read there should also be A.I.R somewhere.
Guess i found it.. Can i just leave the parts and disable the vacume pipe and disconnect the sensores... or must i take away and plug everything?
I want to disable the system.

Re: A.i.r?

Are you planning on doing any other upgrades in the future? If so, I'd go ahead and remove anything that isn't being used. This will also keep the engine looking cleaner and will help you move around inside of an already tight engine compartment. I will add though, anytime you take something off, you run the risk of breaking a fitting and making matters worse; risk vs. reward.

Re: A.i.r?

The corrugated pipe is part of the egr. The smaller horizontal pipe that bolts to the back of the heads is the steam pipe for the cooling system. The other two things look like the oil pressure sensor and the egr valve.

Re: A.i.r?

Nothing in the picture has anything to do with AIR. The AIR pump is on the front of the LH side of the engine block and pipes go to the exhaust manifolds. Look in the component view section of my website for views of all this stuff.

If you have disabled EGR function by capping off vacuum to it, the valve will act like a block off plate and there is nothing more you need to do if you don't want to. Or you can remove the valve and corrugated hose and apply block off plates to the intake and exhaust manifolds.

The other thing pointed to in your pic is the oil pressure sensor. You want to keep that.
