What's the major difference between a new set of stock replacement lifters and a new set of comp "r" lifters when you're doing a cam install? Are the comp "r"'s supposed to last longer with a bigger cam or what?

The Comp R's can handle much more valve spring seat pressure, hence your powerband won't fall like a stone at 5800 rpm. The engine will be able to rev higher before valve float and hp=tq x rpm.
