CSI pump install question

Bought a used housing off Ebay for my CSI pump. What do I have to do to get the impeller out of the housing. Does it just press out?

Re: CSI pump install question

Yes it just presses out, I put mine on a vice and with some mandrels (ok it was appropriate sized sockets ) I tapped the thing out the front.

Re: CSI pump install question

I've heard of housing breaking due to pressing them out though. I used a cut off wheel and cut through the center of the impeller. After that it fell apart.

I can see that happening, thats why I slowly smacked it out, I also used a peice of wood against the shaft etc to help absorb a little of the blow.

Re: CSI pump install question

it's in there real good. I had to take it to a machine shop they pressed it out with a hydraulic press.

Re: CSI pump install question

Dont forget to grind clearance in the housing for the ears of the CSI pump.

Re: CSI pump install question

Got it done, took about an hour to prep the housing. Seriously thought about grinding those ears off the CSI (I didn't though), anybody know why they are there?
