Bleed the clutch until you have all new fluid in there. It's tricky to get all of the air out. I just did a new clutch and slave cylinder last month, and I still have some air in the system.

No cable.... clutch activation is totally hydraulic, with a unique "pullback" design, as opposed to the conventional "pusher" design.

Re: Cluctch Pedal is not comming Back

OP

I don't know if F-body pedal has a return spring as mine (doesn't have one) is a custom pedal in another application using the LT1 "pull" type clutch

otherwise sounds like a hydraulic issue be it MC or slave. You can buy a complete sealed MC/slave for around $125

Re: Cluctch Pedal is not comming Back

You have to shop around for a complete/assembled MC/braided SS line/Slave. Search using the GM part # (if anyone knows it) or "LT1 clutch hydraulic assembly". I found prices ranging from $US 145-225. Like virtually anything you buy, the price varies, and of course being in Canada, you have to convert to $Can.

You are awesome!
I was to get for $185 CDN shipped to me.
Item turn out to be this
That is for whole kit; I dunno its a good idea to buy whole kit; or just do the experiment and change master cylinder first then slave ?
or change the whole thing.
Does any body have a write up or just a know how to do it ?
I mean I have take the trany out to do the slave cylinder ?
Thanks in Advance
Mir

Re: Cluctch Pedal is not comming Back

while your MC "or" slave may be the problem, the LT1 hydraulics are not set up to easily bleed so buying the pre-bleed whole unit, IMHO, will make the repair easier

I don't have a F-body as my car is another application using the LT1 system but it appears you just un-clip the pin holding the MC to the pedal pin, remove the 2 nuts from firewall side, remove the 2 nuts from slave holding it to bell housing, remove 2 screws holding reservoir on and assume there is a hold down nut on the braided line and pull the unit as a whole. Install in reverse

a service book like a Haynes manual should also have a step by step.

FYI, leave the plastic strap on when you install the slave, it will break 1st time you push the clutch. DO NOT push clutch pedal without slave being installed...or you will explode the slave

MC is the master cylinder. It is inside the car and hooked to the brake pedal. The slave is bolted to the bell housing. The part you said you ordered includes the MC and slave. It comes assembled, filled with fluid, and ready to install. Post #10 tells you everything you need to know about installing it.

Re: Cluctch Pedal is not comming Back

if you are asking about a service manual, try amazon.com or ebay

Haynes makes them for just about every car. usually around $25

Lightbulb Re: Cluctch Pedal is not comming Back

I have not check the services manual yet.
Do I need to remove trany to get to slave cylinder ?
or I can do with 2 bolts (I think ) ???
I know for master I have two bolts at the firewall (inside) and clip at pedal clutch side.
Then reservoir handing inside the hood by Brake booster.
