94 z28- problem with msd btm unit??
94 z28 the coil has a two plug setup. this is what msd says to do. connect the two white wires off the coil to the white wire on the msd unit. if you don't have a fastory tach you will only have one white wire. well i have a factory tach and i only have one white wire.... some what do i do know??? guy on the tech line was no help he didn't have a answer for me......

White wire on the coil There is no white wire on the coil ! OBDI cars have a white wire with a black stripe. That's on the gray connector. The solid white wire is between the PCM and the ICM. Refer to the schematic below. Thanks Rob. It sounds to me like you should connect it to the white/black wire. But since they are confusing other aspects of the coil with things like the tach, who knows.
The coil has nothing to do with a tachometer as you noticed in the wiring. The Opti puts out a signal to the PCM which inturn gets sent to the instrument cluster to drive the tach. The coil is not involved.
Does your instructions tell you the wire's purpose that you are trying to connect from the MSD? My basic question is it connecting to the ignition control signal or the primary coil wire? If you have a schematic of the device you are trying to connect, that would be helpful. Or perhaps if you identify the device, someone here may have it installed in their car and can tell you.

Thanks again Rob for the web site.

my stock coil setup is a dual plug. one plug has two pink wires and the other has a white wire with a black stripe. but they claim i should have two white wires going into the one plug, but i have one and i do have a factory tach. here is what they say to do.. splice the two pink wires to the orange coming off the msd box. then splice the two white wires coming off the box to the white wire of the msd box. well what happens since i only have one white wire coming off my coil??
thanks
thanks
