383 or supercharger

I have a 96 camaro z28..
I have a few bolts ons intake, exhaust, headers.
I'm trying to deside either to build a 383 or just get a supercharger.
I've been looking into vortechs, and superchargers, but really haven't found any for sale, so if you can send me a link to one, if thats the way to go superchager, not 383.

What is your budget? Desired power level? Purpose of the vehicle?

These factors play a big part on which direction is the best overall depending on your goals.

If you are looking for 12s for $5k, I would just stick with your stock shortblock and get a nice heads/cam setup. Go with a LE2 or AI setup and I think you will be happy. Blower builds are $ and a budget 383 on a $5k won't be all that amazing.

Including the supporting mods for a nice heads/cam setup may come in under $5k even and if that's not fast enough, throw on some nitrous

Also if you build a motor you'll have a brand new motor

A 50 shot is laughable. Go with the AI 200cc's and a 150-shot and you'll be smoking. But you are limiting yourself by not changing the gears (btw, what transmission?). The more details the better.

Nitrous when done safely and correct power levels isn't as bad as some people make it out to be. The problem is people that try to run a 250 shot on a $400 kit on their Neon and expect it to live.

Consider dropping a grand on a good quality nitrous kit with all the proper safety measures good heads and cam package and you will have a screamer compared to what you are used too...

Stock PCM programmed as needed. "Reflashing" is just reprogramming the stock PCM for whatever you need.

I use www.pcmforless.com and have been for the last 10 years. There are several other programmers available though...
