What the heck does P0122 code mean?

OK, had autozone scan the car today. The code came back P0122 Something about TPS sensor range low. It was the only code. What in English does this mean? I am guessing this is why I was having ASC turn itself off. Thanks for your help.

Its your throttle position sensor. Its sits to the left of your throttle body. It goes off when you PCM reads low voltage from the sensor. Its either a bad connection or you TPS sensor is bad.

Question Can the TPS "come and go"

What I mean is, can the sensor work one day and not the next? Stick6Shift98 what are your symptoms? Does your ASR illuminate the "ASR OFF" light on the dash board when the check engine light is on? Does it come and go, any factors that make it worse? I am just glad my check engine light is not something worse.

I am getting the same error? Mine comes and goes. When it is on, my car shifts into 4th gear by about 30mph and it also throws the 2 O2 codes with it. After about 30+miles of driving, it shuts off and my car drives fine again?

The only thing I did to the idle was raised the idle screw. Could this have caused it? It appears something I am doing may be causing the code since it comes on and off. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

arabus you are probably causing that code by "raising your idle speed"

OK, I really don't know much about these things but from what I have heard that "Idle adjustment screw" isn't an idle adjustement screw. At least on the LT 1 I know you were not supposed to move it to raise the idle speed. Maybe because you adjusted it the sensor is not reading a closed conditon and giving you the error.

Why the heck do you want to raise your idle speed? My idle speed is too high in my oppinion, maybe that is why I was getting the code.

Oh, like I said before I don't know a lot about these cars but it sounds like maybe you have more going on than just the TPS, maybe the TPS is a symptom of the others, not the cause, just blabbing here.

I adjusted the "Idle screw" when I put in the new cam, because the car would not idle. It would die no matter what I tried. I didn't want to drill the TB. After I received the custom tuning, I didn't back it back down. I backed it down last night and so far so good on my ride to work.

Thanks,
