Turn signal issue

Turn signal issue
Alright whenever I try to use my left turn signal it just freezes and doesn't blink. The bulb is lit up in the housing as is the rear blinker and even the green arrow on the dash, it just doesn't blink or make the noise. I can manually make it look like it's blinking by not engaging the lever all the way and just going up and down but that sucks. Any ideas what's wrong?

if all the bulbs are good, its either a bad switch in the column, or a relay. Check the relay first, but if the other side works fine, its probably not the relay.
There are 2 bulbs in the front and 2 in the back also, you probably know that but just in case, that would be a quick cheap and easier fix, if one of those is out.

If only one side is working you may have a bad ground on that side. The relay works both sides so if one works its not the relay. I have had bulbs go bad and cause a short to ground. A corroded connector or bulb will do the same. It is possible the switch is bad but i would try pulling cleaning and replacing bulbs first. check for corrosion and loose or bad body grounds

If the bulb has been checked and you are sure the grounds are ok, then it could be the DRL module. The front signals run through this module and they have a tendancy to fail and cause the problem you are having. Same thing happened to me.

Thanks for the advice, I have a 93 and if I think I know what I'm talking about I don't have DRL's, but I'll replace all the bulbs and see if that takes care of it, every once in a while it does work so the connections may just be dirty.

Did this solve your problem? I'm having a similar problem myself.

This is not a thread jacking.. But a revival for closure. I have this same issue, randomly affecting both right and left blinkers about every 10 turns. I've had this problem for about 5 years and just never really cared about it. but now I really want to fix it and its not the bulbs themselves causing the problem.
Where is the "switch" located that can be causing this? Also my wipers only "activate" if I push the wiper fluid button on the same stick. Could this be related?

The relay is underneath the steering wheel. You can remove the panel with screws and it's quite simple and easy to do. I don't remember the part layout, but avoid touching anything yellow, as those would be the airbag sensors, and you could break your neck getting hit by it deploying. I think there is a picture on shbox's site of the relays.

Actually, I'd say it's usually just a burnt out bulb somewhere. I had to mess around and replace bulbs one time and it did the trick. Start on the rear ones since they are much easier to change than the front blinker bulbs. The bulbs are fairly inexpensive.
