does the knock sensor go into coolant or oil? LT1

probably a stupid question but does the knock sensor go into coolant or oil?
just went to remove the plug to install my knock sensor and the piece of **** stripped on me
going to attempt to fit a drill in there and drill it out...hoping the other side goes into coolant and not oil so i dont have to drop the pan for the second time to remove metal shavings

thanks in advance

There is a 'block drain plug' in the same position on the opposite side of the block in the F-bodys. Some of the B-body's use it for a two KS setup. Never heard of using it for a single F-body KS operation. Not even sure if it's physically accessible in your setup, or if will react the same wen detecting knock as the original position. Just a wild thought...!!!

yeah the guy who put my block together put a plug in both sides, i tried to remove the plug and stripped it out and had to drill it out on an angle to get the easy-out in there.. its a tight spot for a drill but i got it. passenger side by the starter
