rebuilt Trans no forward
Just built my 4l60e, I have reverse but no forward. I went by the book so I don't understand what happened.all the areas that needed special tools I had someone do for me. New molded pistons, zpak, all new frictions.

What could be wrong?

There are numerous things that could be wrong. Anything would only be a guess right now. Most likely something in the forward clutch area. Was the forward and over run air check good?

everything air checked great. I was thinking maybe the valve body bolts but I followed the paper that came with the rebuild kit.

If you're thinking a bolt is in the wrong place, I don't think that's your problem.

so pretty much what's my best bet? tear it out and apart again? I have no idea what i'm even looking for. This sucks.... the last one I built had no reverse now that's all I have in this one

Anything to check before I tear it out that would cause this?

Did you air check the drum through the pump?

Yes. Everything tested good, so I think. I'm not skilled in this department lol

Did you make certain the drums were all the way seated? Does it try to move backwards in neutral?

No it doesn't. I could have sweetie when I put it in park I felt the slightest engagement. May be wrong though

Put a pressure guage on it and see if you have pressure in any forward ranges.

Air tested before valve body install and it worked.
