Are the LT4 and LT1 Flywheels the same?

Are the LT1 and LT4 Flywheels the same? I know the pressure plates are different. Is there anything else different as far as inbetween the tranny and engine?

Re: Are the LT4 and LT1 Flywheels the same?

The pressure plate, clutch disk, and flywheel are different but they are compatible with eigther engine. The LT4 uses a solid clutch disk and a dual mass flywheel, it is heavier and has a dampener to absorb the shock of enguagement. LT1 uses a sprung clutch disk and solid one piece flywheel. If you wanted to put an LT4 flywheel on your LT1 i am pretty sure that you would use to go with LT4 flywheel bolts as they are a bit longer

Do you have to use all the same? Or could you use a LT4 Pressure plate with an LT1 flywheel?

Re: Are the LT4 and LT1 Flywheels the same?

You can mix and match:

LT4 pressure plate with LT1 flywheel and LT1 clutch disk is a pretty popular combo for everyday driving...the LT4 pressure plate has higher clamping force then the LT1 PP so its a good choice. I was actually going to go that route myself but ended up going with an LT4 PP, spec IV hybrid clutch disk, and LT1 flywheel. Im very happy with the spec, its pefectly streetable
