New Impala SS Caught Testing
Is Chevrolet testing an Impala SS?
Interesting, but unless its getting AWD 380+hp to the front wheels can't be that fun to drive.

Since its not known what it is, Im saying its hybrid, not SS . The front grill baffling, the lower air dam, what looks to be deflectors in front of the rear wheels are all things you see on the Volt and Eco's.

Re: New Impala SS Caught Testing
if any of you have driven the 2008 Impala SS, man it really torque steered. And that was with 303hp. So imagine it with nearly 25% more power. Unless its got one of those complex FWD diffs. It's gonna be a handful.

The baffling could also be to hide the intercoolers if it is indeed a twin-turbo V6.
It does look more aggressive than the previous version.

True, but then hybrids don't typically get wide-meaty tires like those. Come to think of it, why would a FWD vehicle need wider tires in the rear?

Furthermore, I would expect that Impala would come standard with eAssist on the four cylinder version. Therefore, I really don't see a need for an Impala hybrid... at least not in a Volt-like configuration.

Re: New Impala SS Caught Testing
The front overhang and the front axle's relationship to the passenger compartment alone shoots that down.

Re: New Impala SS Caught Testing
No. The changes will be limited to the nose, the rear and the interior. Also, supposedly the sheetmetal around the wheelwells isn't going to be as radical.
No it doesn't. Not even close.
