Question WS6 PCM question????

Is the programing the same for the standard 1997 Firebird as the WS6 optioned car ? I just has the Opti replaced by the dealer and It took them five days to diagnose the problem and I am wondering if they flashed the PCM ? The car runs hotter since (acording to the Gauge) dosen't shift as hard and seems down on power. The dealer did say that They were not sure if the warrenty was any good because of "the aftermarket chip in the car" I dont know if they were refering to the LT4 knock module or the PCM When I bought the car last April I was told it was stock by the Ford Dealer who also holds the warranty. I did check the Knock Sensor part # and it is an LT4 Module. So now I am stumped I want the car to run like it did when I bought it. Will the Hypertech help??? Any Advise Please

Thanks

Nope, there's no difference between the computer in the WS6 vs. the standard Trans Am or Formula. If your car is running hotter maybe the dealer didn't let all the air out of the coolant system?

Actually there is one difference in the program itself. The MAF calibration in the PCM is different for the WS6 to better cope with the change in airflow due to the Ram Air. Doesn't really do much for power but I imagine it allows the PCM to better manage air/fuel ratio, etc.

I have seen the difference myself comparing the WS6 file to a 'normal' LT1 file in LT1_Edit.

Chris 96:

Could you e-mail me the calibration table for the WS6 MAF? I've asked a number of times if anyone has looked for a difference between the WS6 and the standard air intake, and you are the first person that seems to know the answer.

I just want to include some of this infor in my "scanner" writeup that everyone uses.

thanks!!

Fred, the AOL mail address in your profile isn't working for me, comes back undeliverable.

Shoot me an email at Chris@mtfba.org and I will simply reply with the attached file.

Could you send me that also? I purchased my lt1 edit used from someone that had already changed everything. I would like to compare the stock tables to what I am running now.

Thanks

Jon
