I just washed the car yesterday and it rained last night!! To make things worse, I have the LARGEST amount of bird crap on my top that I've ever seen on a car. I swear a freakin' Ostritch climbed on my car and just squatted down to do it's buisness. The problem is, it won't come off!! I've tried the pressure washer at the car wash, I tried a scouring brush....no luck. I got most of it off, but there is still slight evidence of it being there. Does anyone know of any tricks to get this off the covertible tops? As long as I'm on the subject, is there any secrets to keeping the top clean. I don't want it looking like most old cars where it's all nasty at the folds.

I believe that the guys in the show and shine section might have a better idea. You could try posting this there.

You can try a little WD-40 it will loosen it up and just re wax that area i know WD-40 work's great on tree sap and tar so i know it wont hurt the paint.:)

I've had that happen to me while I was at the beach. Bird crapped on the hood, mind you it wasn't the normal white bird crap. It was green, red, pink, yellow. And it was splattered all over the hood. I was able to wash it off in about a half hour, but it still discolored the hood a little bit. Once I washed it off I just kept on polishing and polishing, and eventually the stain went away.

When a bird craps on your car, wash it off AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Don't let it sit on the paint. The crap is acidic and it will eat through your clear coat. Especially if the crap is not the normal white crap.

You're not going to like this but when I bought my Camaro the previous owner was nice enough to keep it under a tree and not wash it enough. The bird crap wouldn't come off. I took the highest grain sand paper to it, then I use the roughest to smoothest in order clay wax type thing (Sorry can't remember what it's called but it's NOT Clay Bar). After which reapply some clearcoat give it a good waxing and you'll never know where that bird crapped.

This only works on small areas though, I'm not sure how big of an area you have left to clean.

This guy I know's white car got stained some purple color from bird crap...he left it on for a week before he got it washed and its been there ever since(i'm sure if he did some of the sand paper and clay stuff it would come out, but he gave up after a while) dAMN birds:death:

This is a convertible though...needs to know how to get this "crap" out of canvas. (I went to Autozone and they have Convertible top cleaner) ;)

As far as what does damage to your paint...bird dropping is REALLY bad...but if you live in an industrialized area or a city, even rain is bad for your paint. I've seen rain spots on cars here in Atlanta that have etched into the clearcoat if not washed soon. It's THAT acidic. Soil will do it too...I got went mudding in my jeep and didn't wash it off that day...a few days later I got around to it...yup...etched the clearcoat. THANKS GA RED CLAY!

There's some stuff that porsche makes for their convertable tops, that's supposed to be the best. I had a friend use it on his Z3 and it took the crap off. Maybe search for that.
