What clutch are you using with n2o set-up?john97z28 03-21-2003, 11:23 AM My stock clutch is fried, I need a new one. Any suggestions??? HungryT/A 03-21-2003, 05:43 PM That's a good question. I'm looking for an answer, too. Some would say get the SLP kit, some swear by the SPEC and there are the folks who say pay more now, never have problems later=> Street Twin. If they don't stop me, I'll get the twin for sure.;) 95greendragon 03-21-2003, 06:56 PM I think the street twin is overkill, but I am leaning towards a spec II or III. I have heard bad things about all of them. I have personal exp. with a centerforce df on my supercharged 3rd gen. I loved it but I hear bad things about them on 4th gens. stik6shift93 03-21-2003, 09:36 PM I've heard of the slp failing under big shots, if you're gonna keep the 150 I'd go spec stage 3. That's what i'm running, no problems with it so far. JSK333 03-21-2003, 11:53 PM I have a Street Twin. The only slipping I get is from my drag radials. ;) jakef2003 03-22-2003, 01:27 AM Chalk another one up to the Street Twin. stik6shift98 03-22-2003, 02:59 AM Originally posted by stik6shift93 I've heard of the slp failing under big shots, if you're gonna keep the 150 I'd go spec stage 3. Stripped all the material off the one side of the CF, which ended up to be only stock friction material anyway. IMHO if I were to do it on a streetcar with N2O, I'd just use the stock press plate and a new Spec III disc (6 pucks now instead of the old 4). They're all the same Valeo press plates until you get a Street Twin, then they're modified a little bit. john97z28 03-23-2003, 02:22 PM Thanks guys, now I just have to decide on the SPEC or Mcleod..$$# being the issue. InjectedSS 03-23-2003, 03:05 PM Im using a centerforce dual friction clutch that i got brand new FOR FREE and thats the only reason i went with it cause its WAY to expensive and i know some people say their JUNK BUT I actually installed mine the right way so i dunno WTF other people are talking about! ive made numersous 10 sec passes down the track running ET DRAGS launching at 5500rpms and spraying a 50 shot outa the hole and that clutch is loving every minute of it :D on the other hand if id paid for one i would have gone with a spec stage 3 cause ive heard nothing but good from those clutches  stik6shift98 03-24-2003, 01:15 AM Originally posted by InjectedSS Im using a centerforce dual friction clutch that i got brand new FOR FREE and thats the only reason i went with it cause its WAY to expensive and i know some people say their JUNK BUT I actually installed mine the right way so i dunno WTF other people are talking about! ive made numersous 10 sec passes down the track running ET DRAGS launching at 5500rpms and spraying a 50 shot outa the hole and that clutch is loving every minute of it :D on the other hand if id paid for one i would have gone with a spec stage 3 cause ive heard nothing but good from those clutches  howd u get it for free?? i would of sold it and bought myself a spaec 3 ceramic:p ;) :D gb95zconv 03-24-2003, 08:27 PM After frying a clutchnet kevlar disc I went to the SPEC 3 carbon.....it was holding up to the 150 shot fine . When I pulled the motor to do the 383 it showed very little wear. It took alittle getting use to because it engages higher and harder than the stocker, but it will hold . 11sec 03-27-2003, 10:30 PM my star stage 3 ceramic has held in the 1.5's with 100 shot and bolt ons. rskrause 03-27-2003, 10:34 PM If you can afford it, get the Street Twin. Think about this: did you ever see anything negative posted about this clutch (except about the price)? I can't recall ANYTHING bad ever posted, at the 8 + boards I have been visiting for over 2 years. I got mine, I am happy. 95greendragon 03-28-2003, 10:51 AM Ceramic or Carbon for the Spec Stage III which is better? gb95zconv 03-29-2003, 02:16 PM Originally posted by 95greendragon Ceramic or Carbon for the Spec Stage III which is better? I went with the carbon because it is alittle more street friendly than the ceraric...you can slip the carbon some but not much. Its my understanding that the ceramic cant be slipped at all....it will hold allittle more hp thought. iniviate 03-30-2003, 12:05 AM i've had just about every kind of clutch in my car.... just because i couldnt imagine paying the $$ for the street twin. my latest spec came apart and cracked the bell housing, and cut the oil pan.... needless to say... if i had just bitten the bullet from the get go, i would have come out cheaper with a street twin. like rkrause said.... have you EVER seen anyone complain about their street twin? i'm saving for my new twin disc, oil pan, & bell housing now.... 97SS0594 03-30-2003, 09:55 PM i run the centerforce D/F and the only problem ive had is wearing it out in a year!!! but beside that i love it!!! 95greendragon 04-01-2003, 01:47 PM Well I just bought and installed the Spec Stage III Carbon with their aluminum flywheel. It is quite hard to drive and is VERY grabby. I am a little dissapointed with their flywheel which vibrates while revving in neutral and when flooring it in any gear. I have heard other people having this problem with them. john97z28 04-01-2003, 01:49 PM Thanks for all the info, I have decided to go with the McLeod. I might as well do it now since I have the money. 95greendragon 04-01-2003, 01:50 PM Let us know about it! | ||
