Gotta do some maintenance on an LS1, enlighten me, LS1 folk!!

Hey guys, I will be working on a buddies car tonight. He has owned imports before and knows his stuff about them, but he is still learning about domestics. I'm gonna teach him whatever I can and let him use my garage to do the stuff.

The car- 99 Z28, auto, stock down to the paper filter. 100k miles
What we're doing- change engine oil and filter, change tranny fluid and filter, change rear dif fluid, change plugs/wires.

I've got a few questions. Any tips on plugs and wires?? I know the wires will be simple, but is there anything I should know about the plugs?? Also he is wanting to do some simple stuff to get more performance. I suggested the free ram air mod. Are there any links where I can see some pics of what needs to be done? Is it worth it?? Also if any of you guys know where there is a used lid for cheap he's looking for one. Also since this is basically the 100k mile tune up are we missing anything(he's getting the tranny fluid flushed by someone else)??

Thanks
John

Take the coil packs off for the plugs, and the AIR tubes. Pretty straightforward. The back bolt on the coil packs is a pain, leave this out when you put it back together.

DMS (dynamicmotorsports.com) sells lids for $80.

www.InstallUniversity.com --- that should be your first stop.

Also, if you're not aware of them already, there's a F-Body club in your area. www.mtfba.org

We drove up to meet them back in January .... great group of folks.

You might as well put on headers if your going to change plugs ... it very time consuming
