AUTOZONE can't scan my car!? WTF!?!??!?
AUTOZONE can't scan my car!? WTF!?!??!?
I've taken my car to 2 Autozones and both of them weren't able to scan my car to find out why I've been running with the SES on for quite some time now. When they try to scan it, nothing comes up.
What's going on here? Anyone else get it scanned without a problem!?!?!?

ive alway heard that its because of the obd2 aldl and the obd1 pcm. just what they told my buddy. search in the texas baord for someone close to you that has datamaster or something and get them to scan it.

Thanks, I'll see if I can find someone in my area that has the right scanner.
Its weird though. Each of the Autozones even used 2 different scanners and still nothing happend. There was a black one and orange one?

AHhhh the ole auto zone scan. I did the same thing. The problem is on my 95 TA is that the PCM harness is an obd2 style harness. You need an adapter for the obd1 scanner to fit the obd2 style harness. Its like $25. The reason it didnt get any codes was because he was using the obd2 scanner because thats what fit the harness. The car is actually obd1.
I don't trust the autozone scanners. I had my car scanned there and codes that came back (this is what they told me when they looked em up on the autozone computer) was that my fuel pump was dead and not working. I donno how I drove there then. heh.. looked the codes up off the autotap site and they were fan codes.

today has sucked.
Having once worked at an Autozone, I can tell you part of the problem is that some of the people they hire don't know much about cars. You might go back, have a different person try it, and that person will get it to read the codes.
BTW, Harbor Freight tools sells an OBDII code reader for $50. It's the cheapest one I know of.
