Question Experience with collapsing bellows???

Wondering if anyone in here has ever had an experience where their bellows (specifically 1LE bellow) has collapsed under WOT at higher RPM's? I'm asking because I know someone pushing 350 RWHP that has seen their 1LE bellows collapse at higher rpm's while under load on a dyno.

I recently dropped a new motor into my car that should be pushing more than 350 RWHP and pull all the way to about 7000 rpm that is having some trouble up top. I suspect it may be a similar situation. We compared dyno graphs and they show an identical drop off at similar rpm's. He went to a aluminum bellows (vortech kit bellows) and fixed the problem.

So has anyone heard of this happening before at a certain power output? I do have a scanner hooked up and my MAP readings in Volts are at around 4.6-4.75 at WOT. I think this indicates a breathing problem for a NA car. I've got a Moroso cold air kit, stock MAF, 1LE bellows, and a 58 MM AS&M TB.

I have never heard of this and am running a blower. He might want to look at getting a Trick Flow bellow.

Perhaps the air filter was causing a restriction.

I've heard of it with blowers, but never NA. The air filter would be the only thing in the way...

I've "HEARD" of it happening on cars with very dirty airfilters.

Yikes! That would take some hefty vacuum to collapse it that much. Couldn't you monitor the MAP sensor output to see if the induction is becoming an obstruction? If there is that much negative pressure, it sounds like free horsepower is waiting if you clear the obstruction.

I just cleaned the air filter a couple of months ago when I dropped in the motor.

I have monitored the MAP sensor readings and they are in the 4.6-4.75 Volt range. A little lower than they should be I think.

Where can I find info on the Trick Flow Bellows?

The summit catalog now has them. $90 for a polished ceramic coated elbow, better deal than Vortec IMHO.

Could find it online at summits website the part # is TFS-3150800
