JordonMusser 01-25-2003, 11:03 PM no pics yet, so nothing too exciting. just got back from africa, so trying to get some ****(non car related) taken care of.
anyway, my Super Alloy($$$ #@%^*(&) valves should be here first thing next week, the rest of my valvetrain is here. heads are 80% done. installed my BMR front suspension(all tubular) and it is NICE. BMR does some sweet work.
looking at dropping in the motor next week at the latest..... gotta be careful not to scratch the new pretty paint ;)
PNYKILR 01-25-2003, 11:13 PM Sweet. I was on your site and saw you had painted the engine bay, and thought since my motor is out to, I'll do the same.
This is Neal by the way, from Albuquerque, NM. Nicks buddy. I'm sure you remember him.
97 RedSS 01-26-2003, 12:51 AM You going ith AFR's Jordon? Man, we got to see some pics of that motor before you drop it in...Get some pics of the front suspension also..

rskrause 01-26-2003, 09:39 AM Jordan: what transmission are you planning on running?
Rich Krause
JordonMusser 01-26-2003, 01:01 PM cody-
yes, AFRs. no worries, plenty of pics of front suspension and motor before they go in :)
pony-
yea, I spent about $250 on supplies and stuff. was worth it tho. I am 2nd guessing not using por 15 tho. paint just isnt that tough.. por15 is :)
Rich-
stock T56 for now, I intend to build this extra t56 I have with a viper main shaft, and some other stuff from the viper.
JordonMusser 01-30-2003, 12:19 AM pics of front suspension goodness!

TimbrSS 01-30-2003, 01:42 AM what shocks are those?

Looks like Bilsteins (probably revalved) with Ground Control coilovers.
Jordon: Any concerns regarding the longevity of the rod ended lower A-arms? Or has the car been retired from daily driver duty?
Keep up the good work!
JordonMusser 01-30-2003, 11:56 AM soma is on the money :) revalved bilstiens.
its still a daily driver. I have been running spherical bearings on the rear for almost 2 years with out any problems, they still look new. you just have to run rubber seals!
TimbrSS 01-30-2003, 03:30 PM ahh, I thought those were bilstiens, just didn't recognize the ground control kit. Is that a new setup for you, or something you had before? How versitile is it? (street, strip, road coarse?)
It all looks good!
Birdie2000 01-30-2003, 04:57 PM Damn that's purdy.
JordonMusser 01-30-2003, 10:45 PM birdie-thanks
timber-
the BMR stuff is all new. the car is a road course/street/autoX car that gets drag raced. ie, the suspension is all setup for autoX, but with big enough tires it still hooks good :)
Other changes from my old setup are slightly(40lbs or so) softer springs, and more sway bar front and rear(up 2mm)
Abdullah 01-30-2003, 10:47 PM Jordon, are these AFR heads you will use in your new turbo'd motor 220cc? also is that new turbo'd motor a 383?
JordonMusser 01-31-2003, 03:39 AM turbo motor is 383
heads are AFR 190s, with more porting
Abdullah 01-31-2003, 08:07 AM Jordon. thanks for the reply. i have a question, do you think the GTP stage 2 AFR 220cc LT4 heads that i'm doing now by Craig are too big for a YS-trim supercharged 396 LT1? do you think going with a 383 is better?
because i saw you are doing 190cc AFR heads for your turbo 383 and they are even smaller than the 210cc AFR heads you did for your NA 401 LT1?

Not sure how easy it would be, but I would send the heads to another shop to have checked out before they get assembled. If they are confident about it there should be ZERO problems from them (GTP). I say this because I am not sure they is a flow bench in Kuwait. I have never heard of GTP heads flowing as advertised from GTP, and recently experienced it first hand - no hearsay! Buyer beware.
Good luck,
Ryan
89ProchargedROC 01-31-2003, 02:42 PM Abdullah...jordans heads started out as 190cc but after his porting are probably in the 200-205 range
JordonMusser 01-31-2003, 07:53 PM as procharged said, They will end up around 205-210cc when done.
The only reason I am started with 190s is "the price was right". I would prefer 195s.
i think the GTP 220s will work great, craig knows how to make stuff go fast.
Abdullah 01-31-2003, 08:18 PM Jordon, one more question, why you went with a 383 over a 396? thanks.
JordonMusser 01-31-2003, 09:17 PM I felt that I couldn't get enough piston on top of a 396. Also, no need for cubic inches.. cept at low(non boost) rpm. The turbo will more than make up for it
JordonMusser 02-07-2003, 01:06 PM new pics.

BOV pics, and some head pictures. if I can find a ride around town today to get some bolts, I will hopefully have the motor in tonight!
CW_BUFF 02-08-2003, 10:04 PM I like you fan set up for painting in the garage, that is a good idea. I had never thought of that I used to just leave the garage open so it would vent out. Your car is so bad, I wish I still had mine.
JordonMusser 02-22-2003, 04:08 AM OK, more pics! about 90% done with ABS relocate, just gotta bend one more line(see pics).
Also, there is a pic of where the turbo is gonna be mounted.
looking to have all the turbo plumbing done next weekend.

Lookin' good.
BTW, what type of flaring tool are you using for the brake lines?
JordonMusser 02-22-2003, 01:32 PM I rented it from AutoZone.
Jim S. '95 Z28 02-22-2003, 03:00 PM Coo. Good to know that Autozone tool works on mild steel.
INTMD8 02-22-2003, 05:27 PM Looks very nice!
My setup will be very similar to yours. My biggest worry is going to be drivers side plug access.
What size primarys and crossover pipe did you decide to use?
I'm going to run 1 5/8 primarys, and a 2 1/4 crossover tube.
JordonMusser 02-22-2003, 09:10 PM I am using 1 3/4 primaries and 2.5" cross over. it has plenty of room for plug access....
JordonMusser 02-28-2003, 03:35 PM http://www.fastblackcar.com/camaro/turbomotor/turborouting.jpg
little tidbit of whats going on :)
Mikey 97Z M6 02-28-2003, 05:46 PM Jordan,
Looks good. Mine's gonna be a up a lilttle bit from that location, but still very similar. I haven't decided if I'm gonna have my turbo oriented like yours, or turned 180* with the intake coming from the closest fender. How much extra clearance did that BMR K-member give you for the downpipe, and is it 3" or 3-1/2"?
Did you use the same basic x-over design (minus the lame wastgate location) as the turbotech kit?
Mike
JordonMusser 02-28-2003, 05:49 PM the cross over isn't done yet :)
with slight mods to the BMR K i could have gone to 3.5" right after the 90degree, but i decided it woulda been more hassle than it was worth. right after the steering it is going to 4"
