Anyone catch Mark Reuss on Autoline?
Anyone catch Mark Reuss on Autoline?
Block out about an hour and a half for it.
Highlights:
- The word "competitive" is out, "winning" is in.
- Atomic Green for Camaro.
- Cars will be getting lighter. New design approaches will trim hundreds of pounds without much/any added cost.
- Smallblock will be around as long as there is demand for it.
- I hope everyone likes the Transformer Vette.
- New ways to put a buttload of power through future FWDs.
-Caprice cop car stuff.
Lots more, but I'm going to bed now....

Sounds awesome, I'll have to watch it later. http://fastlane.gmblogs.com/archives...ter_hours.html
I'm starting to thing that $4+ gas in Summer 2008 was the best thing to happen to the auto industry, or at least the consumer. It has twisted their arm to give us better mileage and lighter cars at little to no extra cost and without sacrificing performance. 32mpg Equinox, 29MPG 304HP Camaro, and 44mpg Cruze, 33mpg Malibu come to mind. (not weight, yet, but crazy mileage improvements almost over night.)

Reuss stated that there is no physical reason the version of the G8 chassis could not be built along side Camaro. He stated the biggest sticking point is parts and suppliers.
Holden in house manufacturers a great number of parts for the cars it assembles, where in the US this is not the traditional method of part and component supply. So it would be a green field (ie start from scratch equaling significant cost) to start up the supply base here in NA.

As a future basis for a next Corvette generation ?
Nope. Too cartoonish.
Put the engine behind the cockpit. DI smallblock matched to a sequential manual transaxle.
Go for the knockout punch. Put the final smack on Ferrari and Lambo. They are short of cash and tight on development money.
The Corvette community accepted the loss of pop-up headlights. They will buy the car if it delivers.

If thats Atomic green , thats hot . Reminds me of the latest euro Focus RS color and the new Camaro body is wild enuff to carry the color just fine . Even better so lowered with pedders coilovers and satin black HRE monblock wheels
Tired of the same ol type of colors , props to GM for going a little wild . Psssst , if your borrowing that color from Holden , borrow stryker blue too

Corvette can keep going after the Touring front engine rear drive Ferraris, Jaguars, Maseratis, and Aston Martins.
I would prefer to see GM make another vehicle that was mid/rear to go after the 'hypercar' crowd - and Cadillac needs something better than an XLR as their Halo car.
GM isn't exactly swimming in cash these days either. I'd rather GM spend more money on making the C7 the best Corvette ever, rather than on making it into a mid engine car.
I agree and disagree. I think moving the engine back is a mistake at this point, regardless as to whether or not the corvette community will accept it.
