This problem has been with this car since i did the motor last year. :mad:It runs fine idling and everything but when I get after it good it pulls like hell til 6000 and then pops real loud and cuts off. I can push the clutch in and jump it right back off. I have just put another computer in it from another tuner and its still doing it. It didnt do this before I built the motor. Its driving me crazy. I cant enjoy the car because of this one problem. Does anybody have any idea or had this problem before? Any help is appreciated.

Did you hace the ECM flashed for higher rev limiter?

I would say try a crank sensor re-learn, but usually they break up at a lower RPM when it is out of calibration. Like 94Slug said, too, make sure the rev limiter has been raised too.

Have the tuner drive your car with his laptop hooked up and monitor all the parameters to see what's actually going on in the higher RPM range. I guarantee it's much more than a REV limiter issue, if that was the case then it would just bounce and nothing more, it wouldn't pop and shut off.

The rev limit is set at 6700 from the tuner. My mech. said he did a manual relearn on the crank trigger. The problem is nobody around here tunes LS1s. I guess Im going to CAR in NC to let him take a shot at fixing it. Thanks for the replys. any more will be appreciated too.

Yeah, that doesn't sound right. For one thing, I'd never ever use the stock injectors on a heads/cam build (or even stock fuel pump is kind of pushing it depending on your power level).

The stock 1998 28# injectors are at their limits for a high power cam-only build -- You appear to have a .010" over heads/cam build. Be careful that you don't blow something up leaving it pop like that at high rpms... you could be manually running out of fuel. I've never heard of something like that happening when the RPMs are set high enough as long as you're getting enough fuel.

I'd go with some 30# Ford injectors (they run at around 36# at LS1 fuel pressure) and possibly an aftermarket fuel pump if that doesn't help out the situation.

You really need to get someone to tune it and see exactly WTF is going on as the engine increases RPM with a laptop.
