I saw this on the car connection today. The 1 Series will be about the same size as a Mini, but be RWD, because according to BMW "No BMW can be FWD". I would be need to see the driving dynamics of a RWd car the size of a Mini:)

I would have been floored if the would have put a BMW propeller on a FWD car... :alert:

Oh, Yea a German car that has a M version that makes less than 200 HP and costs 30 frand. Another joke to me from the Germans and something to praise for Motor Crap. I love german cars. 10 moving parts to do the job of one. Get less gas milage, less power, less VE and More money. I want one.
Hey at least BMW is fiercely independent and rightly so in that even their budget cars would be RWD. I'd definitely be interested in at least seeing it.
Sounds like a winner to me! If they sell it cheap enough, ...

The upcoming 1-series will be about the same size as the old E30 - if you're thinking in terms of a late '80s/early '90's 3-series, you've got the right idea. Moreover, this car will be selling for less that $17-18,000 in Europe, and not much over $20k in USA! The M-version will have over 240hp and should beat the performance of the old E36 M3.
I have my doubts about such a small RWD car being undersized and poorly packaged, much like the Lexus IS300. Considering that other Americans can't get enough of the new MINI, my fears are definately ill-founded.

Sounds like an awesome car. Wonder how much the M version would cost?
Also wonder how much HP the base version has.
