disable auto door locks on '95 Z
My '95 Z auto locks the doors whenever I put the car in gear. I don't remember my last 95 doing this. Anyone know if this feature can be disabled? It drives me crazy.
Thanks
Thanks
i know newer cars do this...i also have a 2000 impala that does this so the first thing i would do is rundown your cars electonics and see if something doesnt look stock...most likely a aftermarket piece cause i doubt it ever came stock
Not sure if it will work but there is a GM option to change the lock/unlock program.
On my 2004 Silverado, there are 3 options for lock and unlock. I never played with the unlock options but changed the lock one because I also didn't like having the doors lock when I put it in gear.
Option 1 : Lock doors when transmission is in gear
Option 2 : Lock doors at a specific vehicle speed. I think 6 mph. This is normally the manual transmission option.
Option 3 : Don't lock doors at all.
Now in the Silverado, to change the options, you need to do this sequence.
Pull the signal lever towards you (should be flash to pass)
Turn the key on and off twice then release the signal lever.
Push the door lock button. Each time it's pushed, a beep will sound indicating which option is being programmed. One beep, two beeps etc.
Turn key on then off. Programming is complete.
The unlock options are similar but deal with how the doors will unlock. It's all in the vehicle's owners manual.
