Installed front spohn susp. + qa1 f-series coilovers + 300lbs springs = Car low PICS

I had the stock front suspension on my car, I have had the 15x4" weld draglites up front with M/T sportsman skinnies for quite some time, the ride height was perfect. I just installed and removed the following items on my car:

* Spohn Chromoly Tubular k-member
* Spohn Chromoly Adj. Upper A-arms w/ spherical rod ends + mogg ball joints
* Spohn Chromoly Adj. Lower A-Arms w/ spherical rod ends + mogg ball joints
* Spohn Manual Rack
* Spohn Chromoly Adj. strut tower brace
* QA1 F-series 12 way adj. (not drag race) front coil overs w/ 300 lbs springs
* Front sway bar removal

It would appear I have (2) issues....

Issue #1
When facing the front of the car it would appear the right side sits lower then the left side. I took a few messurments...lining up with the center cap on the wheel from the floor to the bottom of the fender:

Left side: 26 3/8"
Right side: 25 1/2"

You can actually really see the difference...what would cause this? Is this the adjustment **** on the shocks or the large adjustable threaded nut that needs adjustment? Can anyone with a similar setup messure theres for me? What can I try to fix this?

Issue #2
It may be related to the first issue in general. The front of the car (both left and right) sits VERY low...a lot lower then stock..as you can see from the above messurments. I think it should be higher...is this the nature of the beast with all the suspension upgrades and qa1 kit? I messured the ammount of exposed thread on the coil over body and it is 5 3/4". My shop said its up about as far as it can go...what do you all have for exposed thread on your setups? and what front shock **** setting? I have attached some pics:

You can see how low the front of the car is here:

When I jack up the front of the car you can see the suspension travel:

When I release the jack the car sits here and then settles down more, an inch or so lower then this would be perfect, but it drops more:

Here are some various pics of the suspension:

any thoughts?

whats on the rear?

get someone to measure it with you in it and bounce the front a few times to settle it.
I have the spohn rear drag bar and I preload it a little. I have more thread exposed and mine is lower.....I only have a 275 spring and my shocks are loose as they go and were revalved and dynoed to a 90/10

In the rear I have:

* Spohn chromoly adj. drag sway bar
* Spohn chromoly adj. panhard bar
* Spohn chromoly weld in sub frame connectors
* Spohn chromoly lower control arms w/ relocation brackets
* Spohn chromoly adj. torque arm w/ tunnel brace and ds loop
* QA1 F-series shocks w/ stock rear trans am springs (new).

I know they did a full drag/street suspension tune on there snap-on corner balancing machine. They do it for all there drag/road race cars and it works really good. I know they set it up a little more for the track then the street which is fine...just wondering if I have to adjust something more.

mdacton,

You said your car is even lower in the front then mine??

Looks like you just need to adjust the spring height. The two black adjustment pieces underneath the QA1 spring need to be turned with a spanner wrench until you get the desired ride height.

From what I read, front ride height from the ground to the fender should be around 27".

So just keep torquing away at the big nut? Do you do this with the weight off the front end or can I put it on ramps?

Also what setting do you all have your qa1's up front via the ****?

How did you locate the lower spring seat on the shock when you assembled the springs? Did you at least insure you had both sides at the same height?

When I did the QA1 install, I was very carefull to locate the lower spring seat at the same height on the QA1 as it was on the stock shock. When it was all together, the front end was about 0.8" lower than it should have been. Can't explain why. But all it took was using a spanner wrench to crank the lower seat nut upwards. There should be a locking nut that has to be loosened first, and its easier to turn the lower seat nut if you jack the car and take the load off the front wheels.

The adjusting **** adjusts the stiffness of the shock. Has nothing to do with the ride height.

hmm not sure as my fbody/vette shop did the install, they do A LOT of qa1 setups so its prob somehthing small.

Injuneer:

How much exposed thread do you have roughly on your front end coil overs? More then what I have? If so that would mean i still have more room to play with....

Also would have removing the sway bar effect why the car is sitting so low?

Thumbs up

However much you want the ride height moved up on each side, move the spring seat up 1/2 that amount.

That's been my rule of thumb on my various coilover set-ups I've had over the years.
