Question Kicker L5 12's, any good?

Hey guys, I have 2 memphis studio 12's in my car and love them, they are very loud. but I am getting an EXCELLENT deal on some L5's brand spankin new. How loud are these in comparison to the memphis? Does anyone know a ruff estimate of decibles for them. I'm running a memphis 1000D amp w/ memphis 4 gauge and a custom box. Just throw a number out. Give me your opinions, thanks and God Bless

Well, I have seen good performance out of the Kicker L5 and L7 series subs, when installed in the proper enclosures and powered well.

You should know that the square sub is going to have a larger cone area than a round sub of the same measurement. A larger cone area should equate to a higher SPL measurement since they're moving more air. I've been told that Kicker says that the square sub performs like a round sub that is one size larger.

Square 10" compares to 12" round.
Square 12" compares to 15" round.

I don't know if this comparison is true or not, but I have head a few vehicles running square subs getting LOUD!

i have got a 12" L7 with 1000 watts from my orion class D amp. It hits about as loud as my two 12" alpine R's did in my mustang, with a 750 watt cadence amp.

you can expect good SPL, but likely slightly worse SQ. can't give you a ballpark SPL figure because that is 100% install dependant.
