PullmeOverRed 12-21-2002, 09:39 PM I have a 98 v6 auto camaro that had a speed limiter set at 109. but since i added 410 gears the stupid things kicks in at 90 now. hypertech doesn't make anything and the scu2000 will not work with 410s. i was thinking of finding a computer from a wrecked camaro to see if that would work. what do you guys or girls think i should do.
V6 Punk 93 12-21-2002, 10:55 PM Buy this: Jet SCU2000 (http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=3455&prmenbr=361) :)
Marky82 12-21-2002, 11:17 PM 4:10's wow.....just out of curiousity what made you put those in a V6.......is your car really modded?
MustangEater82 12-21-2002, 11:42 PM I thought the hypertech thing did...
ohh well I haven't tried it but in theory hooking up a toggle switch to the VSS sensor you may be able to unkook your speedo, everytime you swithc it off... Your speedo will ot work, not sure if it will cause other problems or not.
But in theory it will work.
1fastV6 12-22-2002, 06:06 AM you would have to find a computer that was programmed for 4.10s and i dont think that will be easy to do. what about http://www.superchips.com? i really dont know though.
and even if hypertech did make a 98 V6 model it would not cover 4.10s. i bought it for my 3.73s and it does not program for 3.73s. luckily it does program fo 24 in high tires, which put me in the same ballpark with the speedo. but how weak is that- you would expect it to reprogram for 3.73s or 4.10s. why would i go from 3.42s to 3.08s? which is what it will program:confused:
NovaScotiaRS 12-22-2002, 08:36 PM Have you checked with a GM dealership. It is a longshot but they might be able to reprogram for gears. I know they cannot/willnot reprogram for revlimit/speedlimit.

V6Power 12-22-2002, 10:43 PM Jetscu goes up to 4.10s. I had one but couldn't get it to work at all. Your best bet is pcm programming though.
PullmeOverRed 12-23-2002, 10:46 AM the camaro with 410s did you have a speed limiter and if you did how did you get rid of it????
Green G0blin 12-23-2002, 01:07 PM that jet chip you guys posted was only for 96+..mine is a 94..how can i get one for a 94?

94 has OBDI, which has been hacked up and down the street. Do some searches, I haven't looked into it myself, but there are plenty of people who can help you out. Make a post here in the LT1 section about OBDI programming.
99blackSS 12-25-2002, 12:25 AM 4.10s on a V6 auto! I am considering putting 3.73s on the A4 LS1.
fourthgen9534 12-26-2002, 01:07 AM i've got a switch on my vss........works, according to online calculators, i got up to around 123-124, ran out of room, but it wasn't climbing very fast. don't know how fast i could actually go.......rambling, sorry.......but yeah, the switch works, and takes less than 20 min to do
By the way, what do the 4.10's feel like
Green G0blin 12-26-2002, 11:19 AM what is a vss? and if you have a speedo reclibrator..where did you get it.....and for how much.
PullmeOverRed 12-27-2002, 11:59 PM Hey, any of you automatic 98s not have a limiter because i can use your vin number to reflash my computer to get rid of mine so if you don';t mind sharing you vin number i could get rid of my limiter.
djcam 12-28-2002, 04:35 PM all u v6 guys, i have ridden in PULLMEOVERRED's car and 4.10's are the PERFECT gear for the v6's. dont waste the money on 3.73's. if u can figure out the speed limiter thing, 4.10' s are GREAT!!!

no way! what are his rpms at 70 mph? it would be cool if i lived 5 minutes away from my job and grocery store, but since i live in a city that takes 30 minutes of driving to get from one end to the other 4.10s are nuts.
PullmeOverRed 12-29-2002, 06:26 PM at 70mph i cruise at 3100rpms but i have a short drive. they are great in the 1/4 though i looking for high low 14s after a torgue converter
1fastV6 12-29-2002, 08:59 PM driving constant at 3100 rpms is deadly on the tranny. if my car was track only i would have 4.10s as well, but since i drive 60 miles to work and back, i had a hard time convincing myself to even get the 3.73s. i drive around 69 mph and i am at 2200 rpms at that
HPbyChevy 12-30-2002, 04:34 PM 4.10's??? For all you guys wanting to dump tall gears into your STREET cars, be ready.
4.10's are great... for pulling/towing, and like 1fastV6 said, at the track! They're not a good street gear. My 3.42's suit me fine. After I get the supercharger on and finish hooking up the NOS, I'll probably end up keeping my 3.42's.
I like to keep the competition in front of me.... until the last 100 ft!!!!:D   :death:
99blackSS 12-31-2002, 02:54 AM <-------still amazed you would put 4.10s on a A4 V6 when I have been told not to put 4.10s on my SS
djcam 12-31-2002, 05:41 PM 99blackss,
u are right, 3.73 is usually the way to go in the A4 V8 cars, but on the v6 cars they seem to be really good. cant always believe what u are told. some people would have u believe that a hypertech is worth the $350 they sell for when actually, they arent very good. or, that a muffler actually adds the 10-15 HP they say.

So let me get this straight a tornado won't give me 30hp!

djcam 01-01-2003, 02:01 AM lol. i wouldnt bet on it. anyone who buys a tornado should get a catscan. biggest waste ever!!funny thing is, is that i have actually talked to people who swear by the thing.
PullmeOverRed 01-01-2003, 02:08 PM all these talk about my 410s is fun but it still doesn't help me get rid of my limiter. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS.
PLEASE HELP
MATT

My brothers Camaro is a 98 V6 A4 he has a speed limiter at the stock point, 118 mph. If I understand right your limiter is at 90 right now. Anyways I am confused but if you want the VIN# of a 98 V6 A4 I can get one.

the dude with the 410s has the same setup as your brother. he's asking anyone who's 98 V6 came with Z rated tires stock in which case the limiter wouldn't have been set at the factory.
the reason his limiter cuts in at 90 now is because his gears make his transmission rotate faster for each rotation of the tires than the stock gears (which is the whole point of of putting in taller gears). this screws up his speedometer so the computer thinks 90mph is actually 118mph.
get it?
<rant>this is why speed should be guaged from the front wheels. its done electronically anyway so there's no reason to tie the speedo into the tranny.</rant>
