Carbon pistons?

I was talking to a friend of mine recently. He is a Subaru enthusiast.

He told me that there is an aftermarket company selling carbon pistons for Subaru engines. Carbon is lighter and stronger than forged aluminum, handles heat better, and doesn't expand and contract as much with changes in temperature. They're also very expensive.

So, I got curious. Does anyone know if anyone makes carbon pistons for LS engines?

Ricers FTW.

He was probably confused with a piston coating.

He's no ricer. He knows what he's talking about. Someone is making solid carbon pistons for WRXs.

what reisen can handle that heat?...... I can answer that.... none..so its not like CF..its not fiber

your friend needs to call it what it is.. carbon graphite or carbon-carbon..well..whatever you want to call it

I believe this is what he was talking about:

I suspect it's carbon-carbon. I'm not entirely clear on why we have to say carbon twice when referring to this material.

I am at a loss trying to figure out what you're saying here. Reisen? Who said anything about carbon fiber?
