My fans turn on when i start the car..turn off after 1 minute ??

I was told my shoebox that the fans are NOT supposed to go on when the car starts.

I did an oil change today so I had the car up on ramps.

So i started the car and crawled under and they would stay on for about 1 minute, then turn off.

Also they would make this high pitched whiining noise.

any suggestions??

Scan it for trouble codes.

The light does not have to be on for codes to be stored, but if none are coming up, I don't know what could be causing it besides a wiring issue.

The high pitch whine noise you hear when starting the car could be the smog pump running.

I could be mistaken but every time you start the car the electric smog pump will run for 2 minutes after the car is started.

Since the SLP switch is plug and play, disconnect it and see if the same thing happens.
