Spraying 100 shot on a bolt on/cammed LT1

Ok ive been reading the No2 section for about 1/2 hour now to try and get a better idea of nitrous use on the LT1.

Now my number 1 concern is reliablity, then is performance when it comes to nitrous. Right now my car puts down 318 wrhp and 325 ft lbs of torque. I believe with proper tuning and long tubes it should be around 335 wrhp and 350 ft lbs of torque. The bottom end is stock and the Cam is a CC305 (220/230 .510 114LSA) with 1.6 rockers. Stock 24 lb injectors.

If i were to use nitrous i'd go through all the safety measure and double up on the solenoids. From what ive seen and read NX and TNT wet kits are what you guys prefer. Would a 100 be safe for my set up. And if used sparingly do you think it'd damage the engine in the long run? Also how much power is lost by going (i think 2 steps colder with a 100 shot) running the engine NA.
And can the nitrous puddle with the wet kit?

So whats everyones take on it? Im definately interested in seeing the miles put on your LT1's with what shot of nitrous. Plus anybody running 24 lb injectors and or an aftermarket cam shaft.

I have the same question basically. I plan on 400 rwhp with a stock short block, from a solid roller cam and heads, plus the mods in the sig. I was thinking about a small nitrous kit, but am scared of my shortblock as it is. The motor should spin to 6500 RPM and with some spray has the potential of 500 rwhp. That could kill the stock bottom end very quickly. On the other hand, if I have time and money left over this winter, I might do a 383 bottom end, then using good rod bolts and nice, forged pistons. Even a small NOS kit should give me 500 rwhp then, and I am hoping an 11 second time slip at high altitude on drag radials is possible.

Geesh, little shots.

Just make sure you are running a bigger fuel pump, and all should be well.

My car was being a PITA all summer, and by the time I got a chance to start spraying and tuning, the season pretty much ended. I've sprayed a 75 shot a couple times, and the car liked it.

The car is getting some more tuning and a full 150 shot next year. I plan on shifting around 6500 on the spray (shift at 7k N/A), but I'll let the dyno decide all of that once I get her on there. My goal is for 550RWHP on a 150 shot, and w/ some more tuning and a bigger TB, I think I can hit it. How long will it last.....who knows, I'm probably pushing my luck a bit on this motor, but screw it, ya only live once.

I just recently put in the cc503 cam 224/230. I can't wait to spray with this cam. I sprayed 150 shot on my stock cam. I will spray 125 shot on this cam. I use the nos kit. I forget the part number. I expeting a little more then 125 hp with this cam and this shot. I tuned this new cam too with LT1 edit and really brought out the hp with only doing NA. Can't wait till the snow goes away and the spring comes.

Would it be logical to assume that if your shooting for reliablity, which means keeping your horsepower in the 430-470 hp and torque range.... that you would want as much of your power coming from the Engine or NA, then adding a smaller shot of nitrous. Similar to what you just did Bad97ss.

Hey where did u get your LT1 edit at. Im in need of tuning.

I bought my LT1 edit right from them at Carputing.com. They are the only place that I know of that has it. To awnser your ? I think it is more reliable. But have to consider too. When you start messing with the interials The realiablity goes down also. There is a small range to be in for realiablity. Just my opinion.

I'm running a NOS 5176 (dry) kit on my 76000 mile LT1. The motor is completely stock from the intake to the oil pan (sans injectors), and I run a 150 shot on it. It's run a best of 12.36 in the 1/4 on 315-35 Summitomo HTR-Z regular old radial tires with a 2.1 60 foot. Stock gears, stock rearend, stock everything, except for the nitrous, pulley, and a K&N. The nitrous can REALLY wake these cars up, but safety is the key. Get the ignition, plugs, wires, fuel pump, fuel pressure safety switch, WOT switch, and window switch and you can run it as much as you want. So far the only thing the nitrous took out was the clutch (70k + miles and a leaky rear main seal will do that too ).

And I have to agree, a 100 shot is pretty small. Heck, I run a 70 shot on my motorcycle, and the ONLY mod it has is an exhaust system! A 100 shot on an LT1 will let YOU know you have nitrous, a 150 shot will let EVERYBODY know you have nitrous!
