i have a actron super auto scanner but it only came with 16 pin plug for obd2 dlc. My fire bird has the 16 pin but is a obd1. Is there away to hook this plug up to the dlc to get a obd1 reading. my scanner is set up to read either, but dont know if cable is plugging in to right pins. Scanner says is not reading connection, or do i have to buy the the obd1 plug and jump it to read the computer.95 firebird lt1

FOR AND OBD 1 PLUG, BUT NOT A OBD2 CORD THAT SCANS BOTH OBD1 AND OBD2 FROM SCANNER

I would think the cable you have would work if the scanner can do OBD-I. If not, you need the correct cable.

First, verify that the Actron scanner is good for both OBD-II and OBD-I. If its an OBD-I scanner, often the OBD-I cables are "extra cost" options. They should offer a cable, or a cable plus adapter specifically for the few oddball GM cars that had the 16-pin ALDL connector with an OBD-I PCM.

Just because the cable plugs in does not mean it is the correct cable. If it was meant for OBD-II only, it probably won't work. I am not sure it was Actron, but recently I was surprised to read that some scanner brand did not offer a cable that would work on the oddball 95s. Autoxray does for their scanners.
