HardcoreRM125 08-30-2007, 10:55 PM Just as the title says,
What are you spraying ? And what tire are you currently running?
Hoping to hear there ARE some decent tires out there, that will last me more than 1000 miles before their junk. My Goodyear Eagle's used to be decent, but now with the cam in, their fairly useless on the street in 1st gear, and sometimes second.
Probably is in the "wrong" forum, but all the Nitrous guys are in here, so I'd like to hear from yins what your running.
BlackbirdWS6 08-30-2007, 11:43 PM Oddly enough my BFG KDW's hook really well on the street but suck at the track. I can stomp it on a slow roll and they won't break when the juice hits. It just squats and moves out. I run a 295 rear tire in the back.

Moshbmx1 08-30-2007, 11:55 PM Supra 712's....not working to well for me. Havent sprayed it yet with the new gears but from what they do without spray it wont be pretty in 1-2 gear. Im getting MT Et's for the street to take care of it
Ray@NitroDaves 08-31-2007, 09:53 AM when I was daily dring the 94 I ran the BFG KDW's for a while...they were O.K. but not great...I then switched to the Nitto 555R's...got almost 12K miles before I needed new ones.
Sparkz28ss 08-31-2007, 11:48 AM RE730 or potenza pole position 2....... I hate PP3s ...most of the time my n2o car is on a street tire...some times I run around on BFG drag radials...
HardcoreRM125 08-31-2007, 01:06 PM Ray, how'd it hook up with the 555's ???
Ray@NitroDaves 08-31-2007, 02:07 PM I wasn't using the 555's..I had the 555r's...the nitto drag radials.
They hooked very well
HardcoreRM125 08-31-2007, 02:31 PM Thanks, just curious, what size were you running? What size rim ? Stockers ?
Ray@NitroDaves 08-31-2007, 04:27 PM I ran the 315/35-17's on a set of 17x9.5's....knowing what I do now I would have gone with the 275/40-17's
97formulakid 08-31-2007, 04:47 PM I run 315/35ZR17 Nitto NT555R Drag Radials on the street on a 17x11 TT2. I'm spraying a 150 shot and 1st gear is a little more useful but second gear grabs a lot better than it used to with just the regular Nitto Radials on.
1982z28with18s 08-31-2007, 06:09 PM 325/50/15 mt dr's, 150 shot, Lloyd elliot heads/cam(Stage 3) on a 355, th400/4000 stall. They worked great, lasted probably 6000 miles before getting "hard", so I switched to a 26x11.5x15 et street. The et streets don't grab as good on the spray as the big mt dr's did.
On the 100 shot it pulled the wheels on the street before.
Z-RATED94 09-01-2007, 01:38 PM Worked on installing the nitrous system today. So no, I'm not spraying yet. But I can say, I'm really impressed with the MT street radials so far and I don't think I'll be disappointed on a 125HP shot. If I am, there's a few things left to do with the suspension.

I will completely agree with all of you that the MT Drag Radials are great but from what I hear they don't last all that long. The Nitto's, I think, are a good compromise between traction and tread life.
OneFlyn95z28 09-02-2007, 01:09 PM I had great luck with the Nitto 555 RIIs on the street also ;)
I did get about 2,000 miles out of my M/T ET Street Drag Radials before I sold them ;)

Iv'e used both, I'll take the MT's any day. You either need the extra traction or you don't.
97formulakid 09-03-2007, 10:43 AM True, I'll restate my opinion. If the car is not driven that much and you have another car to fall back on as a DD then Mickey Thompson's would be the way to go.
But if your car is a daily driver, I would say go with the Nitto's. I'm sure no one would want to buy new 180 dollar tires every 6 months.

I agree with that ^.
I guess it depends a lot on your driving habits as for how long the MT drag radials last. If your not to aggresive they will last a long time for the type of tire they are... a street legal soft racing tire...
I have had mine for a little over a year, and would guess 7-8k miles. Only beat on the car when the "occasional opprotunity" arises ;)
I will change them out in the next few months for another set of the same. 275/40/17 MT ET street drag radials.
I don't use the n20 in first gear, but it comes on in second and the tires hold well.
No n20, roll out quick and go wot, no slippage at all..dig and go.
Any previous sets of tires went up in smoke on a quick roll out and wot.
18-20 psi, 3krpm drop and easy push the pedal to the floor = decent street launch.
Have not been to the track with them..don't really go to the track much.
I have been wanting to install a line lock and really warm them up.
Then try a few launches and see how much better or worse they would hold.
Opinions vary... I have had this car for 120k miles. The work in the sig below for 90k, save for the n20, that went on 12k miles ago.
The MT drag radials is one of the best mods I have done, if you can call tire selection a modification.

P.S. They can be a little slick in the rain, depending on road surface. But if your mindfull of that, they are ok.
97formulakid 09-10-2007, 10:28 AM I installed a line lock and heated up the tires last night before I raced a mustang. The nittos hooked very well. I think once you get them heated they are great.
But of course I will agree with you, the Mickeys are the best out there. I have a set in 275/50R15 on some Weld Prostars that I use when I want to get serious.
Z-RATED94 09-10-2007, 01:10 PM Yeah, the Nittos seem to take forever to heat up. But the MTs for me only need a couple of seconds once I see the smoke start and there good to go.
