Hopefully you figured out you can't dump the steam pipe into the overflow tank.... all your coolant would pour out of the system. The stock radiator is supposed to have a vapor/liquid separator where the line from the back of the heads connects. My Griffin radiator has all the factory connections, including the steam retrun, level sensor, etc.

so what would happen if i got the griffin radiator (GRI-1-25241-X) and tapped into the side tank for the steam pipe? if you have a radiator like this whats the part number? also would you happen to know the CFM for each of the stock coolant fans? thanks

I bought the Griffin 7 years ago, and can't find the receipt. It's their model for an LT1/M6 F-Body. No smaller than stock though. Thicker, and a shade taller.

You should be OK dumping the head return line into the radiator. I never pulled the stock unit apart to see what was inside the connection.

Don't know anything about the stock fans, other than that they are enough to keep my engine running cool under virtually any operating conditions.

ok cool, well when i get back im gonna give it a shot and il post up the results. hopefully it dont blow the radiator cap off. only problem i see is excess vapors in the radiator which should be able to escape from the over flow.

If you get the right model, you won't have to "tap" into anything. Mine has the connection for the steam pipe - pointed that out in my first post.

I think they quit making that model.......I'm sure if contacted they will put one together. But when I was looking for one noone could get it.

Why do you need more room? turbo or something?

yea i need room for the turbo, cant seem to find any radiator that is the right size that has a spot for the steam pipe other than stock type/size radiators which would be pointless for me to buy b/c that wont save any room. i wasnt going to just tap into the tank i found some aluminum bugs that i could tig on to the tank. the griffin seems like my best option so far with a set of push fans. when i get done doing this im gonna make a write up for it.

Some of the guys at LS1tech have done it....but none of them are street cars so not sure how well they cool
