Gripenfelter 07-20-2007, 01:49 PM What is the max you will pay for the next Camaro? Be it the V6, base V8, or top 500+ hp V8.
What is your spending limit? Please specify model (V6, V8, top V8, limited edition model, etc) and if you will be buying used/demo/new etc.
Gripenfelter 07-20-2007, 02:09 PM For myself, I'd like to get one with all the bells and whistles but it has to be the top 500 hp model but I will probably get a used one (whenever its in my price range) around $30,000 or so.
SunsetHawkSelena 07-20-2007, 02:39 PM i want the fastest V8, M6, decently optioned (but not every option), for 35K or less. :D
SoSmoked 07-20-2007, 02:41 PM 50k is about the limit for me right now depending on what kind of job I'll have then. I'll probably have to wait til 2010 for a 500hp convertible. I want mine fully loaded IRS, HID, nicest wheels, 6 spd, mp3, and hopefully by 2010 chevy will have hopefully have those RS opening headlights. But for that much money I'm also thinking about a used Viper.
posaune 07-20-2007, 03:03 PM 27K is about my limit. If that gets me around 350 hp /M6 with some good options and I'll be ok. No matter what I won't pay over that.
I'd rather get the base top dog for no more than 40k.
FS3800 07-20-2007, 04:36 PM 25-30 for base v8
ChrisUlrich 07-20-2007, 05:39 PM Seriously... when are they releasing this kind of information? I thought they were due out the end of this year.
Two of my buddies SWEAR it's gonna be 35-40k for a fully loaded Camaro.
EllwynX 07-20-2007, 06:46 PM Seriously... when are they releasing this kind of information? I thought they were due out the end of this year.
Two of my buddies SWEAR it's gonna be 35-40k for a fully loaded Camaro.
Not due out 'til 1st Quarter 2009 (ie- Jan-Mar 2009).
Production is slated to start Sept-Dec 2008.
About a year and a half to go...
EllwynX 07-20-2007, 06:48 PM $30,000 - $35,000
Mid-Level V8 Coupe w/Most options most likely
CLEAN 07-20-2007, 07:18 PM I did 40-45, I'd want a top dog, w/ almost everything. Wifey's would be the 30-35k number. Would like to get GMS on it if possible LOL.
Deutsch 07-20-2007, 07:29 PM I'm going to throw together what I would like to see on my camaro, so some of the things I'm throwing in are just my preference. So here we go:
Camaro mid V8
-Grey or Silver Metallic paint depending upon texture
-6 spd Sequential A/T
-Z28 pkg.
-18" or 19" wheels
-Blk textile or leather
-Sunroof(very iffy)
-I pod connector
The most i'd be willing to pay for all of this would be $33k t+l. So that means $32k msrp. Hopefully I'm not being demanding.
ShawsDQ 07-20-2007, 07:59 PM If the V6 comes with 325hp or more, ill probably go with that. Looking to spend around 25,000-27,000.
GRNcamaro 07-20-2007, 08:24 PM im only looking to spend no more then 28k thats my limit i would rather spend around 26k.
i want a base level v8 but if i cant get that i would settle for a v6 if it had 300+ if its not at least 300 then ill just pass on a 5th gen or maybe pick up a used one
hyperv6 07-20-2007, 08:28 PM For a daily driver a 320 HP 09 V6 coupe for $27-28,000 loaded will suit my needs well.
If this was a weekend play toy I could see a 430 HP V8 09 for $29-34,000
If I spent more than $40K it won't be on a Camaro.
I think many just don't consider how big a part the V6 will play this time around. The higher the gas and insurance the more important they will be.
CLEAN 07-20-2007, 08:52 PM I think many just don't consider how big a part the V6 will play this time around. The higher the gas and insurance the more important they will be.
True, but if you're in the market for a 500 hp Camaro, you've already accepted the gas and insurance costs. I believe it's a non-issue for that particular buyer.
Primus 07-20-2007, 09:35 PM I hope I can get a nicely equipped V8 for under $30k or I may go elsewhere :(
dover179 07-21-2007, 02:09 AM 30-35K Here
Looking for the biggest engine in that price range with not a whole lot of options.
Prefer leather but not required depending on the look of the cloth fabric. Power options will come standard on that trim level I assume.
I don't want a whole lot of bells and whistles.
Rob V 07-21-2007, 02:09 AM I'm hoping that the market takes the high Canadian dollar into account when they price it in Canada. Seeing as the Canadian dollar is almost at parity with the American dollar, it's cheaper to buy a car from the US. As per GM Canada, a Corvette Z06 1SB package is 95,605 MSRP before options. The 18" x 9.5" Fr & 19" x 12" Rr Chromed Alum rims are an extra $2500, Radio: AM/FM Stereo w/CD/MP3 Playback/Navigation is an extra $2200 and Interior Custom Colour & Trim Combination is an extra $765.
For the Z06 2LZ package, it starts at $73,485. The Rims are $1495, the radio is $1795 and there isn't even a custom interior option. Total comes to $76,730.
When you compare prices, keeping in mind the Canadian dollar is at 96 cents US, pretty damn close to parity, it would be worth a persons while to import a vehicle from the US if there wasn't so much red tape to cross. When you go straight across, a Corvette Z06 priced at $95,605 before options winds up being around $90,000 when you adjust currencies. Now, do we really think that is worthwhile? And considering the Camaro will be BUILT in Canada, I think General Motors of Canada needs to keep the value of the Canadian dollar in mind. If there are Canadian hands working in Canadian factories, delivering the car to Canadian Dealerships, purchased by Canadian citizens... Something isn't right if it can be bought for thousands less in the United States. I don't mean to sound xenophobic regarding our neighbours to the south, but I'm doing what I can to spell this out logically. Granted the Corvette is built in Kentucky, but if you can get an equivalently optioned vehicle for 20,000 less just by hopping the border, why don't I just take a day-trip into Bellingham and buy my Camaro there? I'm sure it'd be nothing to have Canadian gauge facings from the factory, with km/h as the dominant measure.
I really hope that this comes to the minds of those at GM, when they are setting the price point. I'd pay up to $45,000 CAD for this car but I don't want to kick myself in the backside, knowing I could have saved even $2500 by going to Bellingham across the border.
SSRich 07-21-2007, 03:25 AM 30-35 for LS3 automatic with all of the bells and whistles hopefully a RS/SS.
HuJass 07-21-2007, 07:26 AM I'd like a top dog V-8 'vert with all the options, but I don't think that will come in at the $30-35K price range. Rather I believe that car will be priced around where the Shelby GT-500 is. And I'm not prepared to pay $45-50K on a Camaro.
So I'll probably have to "settle" for the one step down V-8 and hopefully that will be in the $30-35K range.
28-32k for LS3 6spd
Much more than that and I would have to seriously consider buying a used vette.
SS 396 07-21-2007, 11:17 AM 25-30 grand for a 6 speed manual mid level v8.
FS3800 07-21-2007, 11:36 AM Two of my buddies SWEAR it's gonna be 35-40k for a fully loaded Camaro.
that wouldnt surprise me in the least for a fully loaded car with the top engine option and automatic..
Z284ever 07-21-2007, 11:42 AM What I'd be willing to pay is directly proportional to how much I like it. If it simply pushes all of my buttons, I'd be willing to pay more.
jg95z28 07-21-2007, 02:18 PM I'm waiting for the "top dog"... price does not concern me.
Deutsch 07-21-2007, 03:13 PM Isn't there official word out that the plan is to match the Mustang dollar for dollar, model for model?
QATransAm 07-22-2007, 09:11 AM LS3/M6 less than 30k, don't care about options.
Put up or shut up, cause i'd be just as happy with a stroked L92/LS3 in one of my cars :)
LT4ultraZ 07-22-2007, 10:02 AM I am hopping for a z/28 with around 500 HP. This will be the only car i will buy new so i am willing to spend 35 to 40 thousand. This is a list of options i would like to see.
Wish list
1. heritage stripe package
2. leather interior
3. 6 speed tranny with twin disk clutch (slightly overbuilt)
4. HID headlights
5. cross-drilled brake rotors 6 piston calipers
6. integrated and upgradable radar detector
7. heads up display
8. LCD navigation / radio
performance
9. well driven 0-60 in around 4.0, 1/4 mile 11.5
10. gas mileage 20 in the city and 27 to 30 on the highway
11. 9.8 to 1.0 G sustained turning
12. capable of stable driving at 175 MPH
Well that is off the to of my head.
Good Ph.D 07-23-2007, 01:32 AM I want...
~400 hp V8.
An excellent sounding exhaust
HID Headlights.
LED tailights.
Night Blue Metallic Paint
Contrasting leather interior
An arguably usable trunk.
60/40 folding rear
Lots of head/leg room.
Wheel that tilts and telescopes.
9999 way adjustable seat
Panoramic Sunroof.
Those are the only ones that I think are even asking for anything out of the ordinary. Im going to immediately rip off the wheels and stock sound system anyway.
Id pay in the mid 30s for it...
indieaz 07-30-2007, 03:59 PM $20-25k for a poorly options mid-level V8 (mid 300s for horsepower).
blackblur1996z28 07-30-2007, 09:03 PM 40-45k hopefully for a fully loaded top dog hard top!!!!!!
camarolvr69 07-30-2007, 10:04 PM 30-35k for LS3 supercharged coupe,A6,Solid rear end,lightest wheels available,free flowing exhaust,tubular exhaust manifolds (crossing my fingers),special paint-SOM or silver, Xenon/HID's,RS style tailights,performance brakes-maybe 4/6 piston calipers,Spoiler delete(iffy),Black cloth RECAROS,basic stereo(swap it out),color changing cluster,better grille....thats all i can think of.
Liquid Slap 07-31-2007, 08:31 AM $20-25k for a poorly options mid-level V8 (mid 300s for horsepower).
That's a helluva dream...
Me personally I would like to see them pretty comparable to price of Mustangs but with better stuff i.e. Mustang Deluxe 300+ HP 28k, Camaro Z28 400+ HP 28k.. You get the picture.
CamaroCain02 07-31-2007, 05:26 PM If any Camaro is priced over $40k, that would just be outrageous IMO
Ron78Z&01SS 08-02-2007, 11:45 PM My next car will be NEW.
I'd say $40K-45K for the "top dog" with $500+hp. I'd have VERY hard time justifying paying more for a "super" Camaro than a "base" Corvette with 430hp (436 with the optional exhaust).
If I were to order an LS3 Camaro I'd have to say just a bit over $30 without going crazy on options.
I should be done restoring (and having the paint/body work payed off) my '66 Vette in late 2008. I'll finally decide then if I'll get a 2009 Corvette, "normal" V8 Camaro or wait another year and go for the "top dog".
380ss 08-03-2007, 02:26 AM I would like to top of the line SS pumping anywhere from 435 to 450 sell for 40-45K
2010SSVERT 08-14-2007, 06:47 PM Just over 40k for top of the line convertible with M6 and 500hp!
$30-$35k. Navigation, 20" wheels, leather, HUD (HID and LED would be nice, but I don't expect it). I dont expect the standard v8 to be less than $28k.
FS3800 08-14-2007, 07:17 PM I would like to top of the line SS pumping anywhere from 435 to 450 sell for 40-45K
the top of the line car, whatever it's called, better have more horesepower than that if it's going to be 40k.. thats around the price of the GT-500 and that has 500hp.. the Camaro, at that price, should have at least that much, hopefully more
JadedZ28 08-16-2007, 02:54 PM 25-30k here. want i very nicely optioned mid level V8, around the 350ish mark. M6 of course.
i want all the techno goodies, HID, navigation, etc etc. if the time comes when i can afford a new camaro as a "toy" i dont need it to have all the power in the world, as thats what the '02's job is slowly going to be! i just want a very nice interior, nice wheels, badass exterior and for it to sound nice. id plan on keeping it stock, with the possible exception of a catback and a CAI or Lid-equivalent.
