Converting A4 to M6 and Vice Versa

I have two LT1 based Z28's
'94 Z28 383 A4 3.42
'96 Z8E 383 M6 4.10

I'd promised my daughter ever since she was old enough to communicate that when she became a legal driver (now 6 months away) that the '96 was hers. She now has her permit and is driving the '94 because it's the automatic and is not near the heavy hitter that is the '96 Solid Roller cam'd car. She's quite comfortable driving the A4 and, when asked, said she'd prefer an automatic tranny in the '96. So... my question is, is there a stand alone 4L60E shift manager or do I just need to get the harness from a 95 - 97 A4 car so the PCM can manage shifting duties? Otherwise, I'm sure it's just pulling the pedals, crossmembers, etc from one car to the other. It would be great if there is just some 'blackbox' by JET or someone that can command behavior. I know there are a lot of conversions out there for putting LSx engines/trannys into old muscle cars, etc.

I'm sorry for the misunderstanding but what I meant to imply was that I'm taking the M6 out of the '96 and the A4 out of the '94 and swapping them into the other car.
Was: '96 M6 Will be: '96 A4 (tranny from the '94)
Was: '94 A4 Will be: '94 M6 (tranny from the '96)

I think summit sells a standalone 4L60E computer for about $700. If not there then somebody sells one. I've read about the thing before, it's mostly for people that want precise control over the trans for racing purposes, but it will probably work with your application as well if you don't want to work with the wiring. When I did the A4 to M6 swap on my 95 there was a fairly thick bundle of wires that I unplugged going to the trans, but I'd bet they all go to the PCM so it's probably not as bad as it sounds.

I'm not going to get into the OBD1 vs. OBD2 thing though because I have no idea if you'll run into trouble with that. I know the OBD2 cars had more advanced transmission diagnostics, but I'm not sure if that was in the trans or the pcm.
