eclipse gsx vs my lt1 camaro !!! ---
All I hear is PSSSHHT PSHHHHT PSSSSHHHTTT then I see we are doing 60 in a 35 and he hits the brakes to get on the highway (left hand turn). Are those the all wheel drive models or just the turbo ones? I shifted at 4k through the gears and he was behind my rear bumper by a few feet and I was losing him with each shift. Cant wait to hit the track tonight
I wasnt expecting it to be so easy honestly .... all I have for mods right now is: KN CAI, Gran. MAF, air foil, underdrive pulleys, edelbrock shorties, y pipe, flowmaster 3" catback, short throw shifter, panhard rod, strut brace, and 315's. Shes been running strong lately actually though...considering she has 100k+ on the bottom end ---

I'm pretty sure the GSx is the awd model and the GS-T is the 2wd turbo model of the eclipse.
"all i have" lol i was expecting to read one or two things...not that list of mods you have there and in your signature. No wonder why you took him.

exhaust, FMIC, BOV and FMU and they're quick. put on some wider tires and some decent tread and they could easily keep up with you and those mods. not to mention HUGE aftermarket support for the turbo models and a cheap and easy garret t-60 turbo upgrade for around 25lbs boost and you got an easy 350 hp in a 2600 lb car.
but....if the driver sucks then the car could be a top fuel dragster and you'd still kick the crap out of it.

Some people buy a BOV as their first mod to try to impress people. Others buy it as just a part of their modification plan. Those are are the ones to be more concerned about. The ricers still have a 14.9-sec car at that point, except now it goes "whoosh" (and runs extremely rich for a few secs) every time they shift.
They dont impress me too much. I'd rather have a Syclone or a Typhoon. The stick shift and AWD is hard to master. Had a DSM once, a 87 Conquest. Moved pretty good, but too heavy for a hatchback. Plus they always seem to break halfshafts. Ive sold a few sets at work, as well as clutches. Stock to stock they were a bit slower than my T-Type.
I just like American cars better. Vette, Camaro, it doesnt matter; I like them all. I just like the Buicks the most. If I could afford the insurance, id have a ZO6 or an SS right now. But I cant.

They break halfshafts and other parts because of two things: they're 10-15 years old in most cases and because they were designed for 195-210hp. Some idiot dumping the clutch will break something on any car if they do it enough.
An 87 Conquest isn't what's termed a DSM, although it's a similar car. The 4g63 engine is 10 times the engine the Conquest had. Even so, I think people forget what was considered "fast" back in 1990. If somebody sold a turbo AWD car today that ran only 15.0 @ 92, they'd be laughed out of the showroom. For then, it was quick, and people still enjoy working on them for the same reason people still like to buy 3rd gen F-bodies and work on them. It's not what they are stock; it's what they are when you're finished with it.
You do know you can buy an automatic AWD DSM, right? It'll need mods to make it reliable under increased hp just like the rest of the car. A Syclone/Typhoon isn't a free walk in the park either -- they have their own needs & issues. No matter what platform you choose, ya gotta pay to play!
