I just picked up my bare 350.....120$ pretty sweet deal
It's a 1970-76 350ci 2 Bolt Main
Pretty clean, bores are 4.03 and just need to be honed not a big deal, the block itself is clean, looks good.
I have no idea if I should magnaflux it....it "looks" good, no rust, the inside is clean, minimal wear, it's oiled for the winter and bagged.
Just gotta start my search for parts and maybe in summer I can start building up the bottom end.
Any ideas welcome....I don't know if magnafluxing is a "must", this will be my first engine build....I'm just trying to learn, so I figured why not buy a block and start from scratch
Oh yea, on the rear of the block, on the opposite side of the iden code there is T3 in big letters and below it is CONV2
The website I went to says that side is the date the block was cast, or something but it doesn't seem to work out. I don't have an engine stand yet (don't really need one till I start to build it anyways) and it's bagged so it's hard to see all of the block and look around for the all stamps.....anyone know what CONV2 means?
Edit: While I'm here I might as well get all my "idiot" questions out of the way. Does anyone know of a website that lists EVERY part I'm gonna need to address when building this 350 up, I mean I know the general parts, but is there a list anywhere telling exactly EVERY part I'm gonna need to buy, from the obvious ones like a crankshaft to the not so obvious ones that may be nothing more then a little cap or seal. I want to sorta make myself a part checklist, this way I can look at the list knowing EVERY part I have to go find/buy and as I get them I can cross them off.
