I need some suggestions for a budget street/strip suspension. I have a 86 iroc and i think just about all of the suspension is what was on it from the factory.
Also last year i went to a carb setup and my fuel system needs some big improvements. I have found a few kits but they all seem pretty expensive im sure a few of you have just made your own and im wondering what you used and what you did with the in tank setup.

well, you can def. get by just fine with a stock TPI fuel pump atleast to low 12's. you prolly already got an adj. return style fuel press. regulator right? my 86 has gone mid. 12's with that setup. stock lines and all up to the regulator at the front. i have since added my fuel system that I saved from my first car. it'll go 10's with this setup. thats a mallory 140 fuel filter, pump, regulator, sumped stock tank, feeding -8 lines all the way to the carb. and I still kept the intank pump/stock lines feeding in to the same malory return style regulator (it has 3 in, 1 out ports) thats only turned on when the nitrous is armed. prolly overkill, but it was already there, why not use it right? I was only running a 125 shot.
what fuel setup do you currently have, and what kind of problems are you having with it?
BMR makes exc. products that are reasonbly priced. I like spohn the best but BMR is cheaper for your budget.
also, you can reuse your stock rear control arms if you buy solid bushings, have them pressed in at an auto parts store that offers that sort of thing (napa). then add a piece of steel to "box" the control arms. like this.

you can do the exact same thing for the pan hard bar. but obviously this add's weight to the car. not what you want if you can help it. the bushings I used were solid replacements from the dealership ordered for a 88 Iroc I think it was. but Id buy some eurothane ones instead.
also, this suspension you see here has gone the times in my sig no problem. no wheelhop, hooks really good so far, and rides great on the street. the only thing I want to change is the torque arm has to go since Im starting to get quick off the line. Im afraid the stock arm will snap and is no good for the trans either.

I kept the stock TPI fuel system when converted to carb. Pump/tank/lines into a bypass carb pressure regulator and it was good for 11's with no issues. I did the trap door mod to replace the stock intake pump with a Walbro 340M, thinking my pump was not keeping up(turned out my rear float was WAAAY too low). A 255lph intank pump with stock lines should be good for A LOT of power. The stock pump is no dog but maybe yours is on the fritz? You didn't state any problems with what you have and what your eventually looking to accomplish.
Budget effective suspension would be Spohn lower control arms($115), LCA relocation brackets($65+ minor welding), Spohn LCA bolt kit ($11). Spohn price<BMR

I actually have been using a manual pump i was told by several people the pressure from the TPI pump would any regulator apart after a while so i never went that way put i think i will go ahead and replace the in tank pump and buy a 3 port regulator for under the hood. thanks for all the suspension tips thats one area i have no idea about. I pulled my motor apart yesterday and didnt like what i saw a broken rocker arm and guide plate plus it looks as if the cylinders have been washed:cry: So after i get the mototr back together FULL ROLLER:eek: ill be starting on the other stuff. Do you guys have a place you buy your parts from or can you post links of were i can find the prices best for the parts you mentioned

go to the vendor group purchase boards. theres always stuff like this for sale over there. I always shop around for who has the best deals. summit racing is a great place to buy speed parts from. there in ohio, and if you order in the morning, usually it'll show up the next day. prices are great too.
