What good is a new ignition box?

I just bought a Mallory 685 box to complement my n20 set-up. But I was wondering what gains, if any, would I get from the box alone before I install my nitrous. The box will go in this weekend, and the n20 will go in next weekend.

The box itself isn't really good for any gains on a bolt on or stock motor.

You can use it to retard the timing when spraying.

That is what I was going to use it for. I just wanted to know if it would do anything to a stock motor before I get my spray installed.
