my roomate has a 94 cam that was originally a 3.4 A4 we changed to a LT1 T56.... we are having a bit of a wiring problem.... there is no pigtail for the skip shift! for now we plugged the speed sensor pigtail into it and it runs great, but no speedo.... when you plug the lead into the speed sensor, it works great, but you only have gears 1-4-R..... I was assuming that a small amount of voltage keeps that skip shift solenoid from engaging, but I was wondering how to get around it? can I tap into the speedo lead, or will that burn somthing up? or send the speedo the wrong signal? just need a little guidance!

well ive dont a couple a4-m6 swaps and have just left the CAGS unplugged with no problems at all on eather car.. somthing sounds fishy..

Why do you feel you even have to hook the skip shift solenoid up, or why would you intentionally want to hook the VSS connector up to it.... makes no sense at all????
In the OBD-I cars (94/95) disconnecting the harness connector from the solenoid does not cause the SES light to come on, although it does set DTC 84 in the PCM. There are no negative consequences from DTC 84. If it really bothers you to have the code, get a 2Kohm reisistor and connect it across the wires that go to the skip shift solenoid. That will eliminate the code.
I think I replied somewhere else, but if hooking up one of the harness connectors to the skip shift causes it to continuously block 2nd gear, you probably have the reverse lockout harness connector on it, since that is continuously energized when the car is moving (VSS not = to 0).
