Hybrid RWD GM's Ace in the Hole?

I was reading this post-
http://web.camaross.com/forums/showthread.php?t=475527

and the below quote jumped out at me like a lightning bolt..

"Our interest in this or other deals is whether it creates a capacity to sell more vehicles," Wagoner said.

At the same time, Wagoner noted that GM has had success with single-project tie-ups with other automakers. Examples are a joint venture with DaimlerChrysler AG and BMW AG to develop hybrid powertrains for rear-drive vehicles and a venture with Ford Motor Co. to develop six-speed automatic transmissions.
All three automakers listed above, make powerful RWD vehicles. What if GM's entire Zeta line offered a Hybrid option in say mild and wild form? Mild being a gas economy oriented powertrain that had 250 or so HP and got 40+MPG, and maybe a wild powertrain like Lexus offers that teams an LSx with an electric motor for 500+ HP. Would make a great image engine for the Camaro
