Just measure the key resistor. (4720ohm)

It is 4720 ohm. I think I'm in the range.

Just didn't get something. Is it enough to bypass key, to run my motor ? Or should also be reprogrammed ???

Is the security light on or flashing?

What's the total resistance you used and where did you put it?

Did you disconnect the keyswitch contacts?

First security light on than dissappear. I used the same resistance as the keys. Yes I disconnected the keyswitch contacts.

So, with the resistor installed, the security light comes on when you turn the key ON, then goes out in 3 or 4 seconds, correct? That would be normal.

What were the original symptoms?

Then goes out in 3 or 4 seconds, but the engine is also goes in 3-4 seconds.
Maybe I didn't get it well. Is the bypass method only for missing key, and going cheap way (instead of paying 90$ for a new key)????
The resistor that I found is right because I could turn the engine on, but a few second later died, as like before the bypassing. Nothing changed.

It runs with stock PCM, runs crappy but not dies, no code for VATS. (stock PCM for A4 my car is M6 (swapped)). With programmed OBD2, it dies, and appear the VATS code.

It must disable from the PCM also??? Is it a MUST?

Please just a quick answer. Vats MUST be disable from PCM ? Or bypassing is enough to solve the security problem?

Hard to diagnose anything 100% over the internet, but it sounds like the VATS may not be your problem. You say the security light goes out like it should. Some of your responses are hard for me to follow as to what is going on (perhaps English is not your native language).

Part of the VATS also sends a signal to the PCM to allow the injectors to fire (that is the part that reprogramming takes care of). If the PCM was not getting that signal, it should cause a trouble code.

Re: Just measure the key resistor. (4720ohm)

Sorry for my English, I'm doing my best

The code (P1626 D) appears when I connect my programmed OBD2 and the engine dies after a few seconds. If I connect a stock OBD2, code doesn't appear and engine doesn't die.

I tried the bypass method (used resistor), nothing changed.

Please help me?

You can get a key from Eckler's Camaro for like 15 dollars and have it cut, so it would probably cost 20 dollars tops if you go that way to get it and cut.

I don't think it is about key. Because it starts with stock PCM.

Re: Just measure the key resistor. (4720ohm)

P1626 is for the fuel enable signal from the VATS to the PCM. I would say your "programmed" PCM does not have the VATS disabled. That is why it is dying after a few seconds. I am not sure why the stock PCM does not complain about the VATS, if there is actually a problem with it. I assume you want to use your programmed PCM and not the stock one?

Yes sure. With stock PCM engine runs like piece of crap. (383cid 240/246cam)
So my question is, only bypassing is not enough to solve my problem. I MUST disable the VATS from PCM right?
