2007 Acura MDX: spied

I'm loving that interior. Especially the nav screen and center stack. Not sure about the exterior yet - too hard to tell with all the tape and stuff, though I didn't love the concept, those can tend to be a littl extreme. I think the concept had LED headlights though, which would be cool to see carried over.

Yikes. It looks like the bastard child of a Vibe and an Aztek.

I'm not real big on the MDX for the same reason I never understood the Lexus RX line: what's the point of a "SUV" built on a car chassis with NO offroad utility whatsoever? It's like their affaid to just call it what it is: a station wagon the rides real high.

I honestly don't see a bit of vibe or aztek in there...

But I agree in a classic sense... it's a station wagon that rides real high - it's unibody, and car-based.

But it does ride higher, it does typically have AWD, they do often utilize some varient of a truck tire, and are often very capable vehicles in slick conditions and such - just not off road, which is where 98% will likely never once go short of a gravel road or two.

What's the point? Well, add the Caddy SRX, the X3, the FX, and the M-class and that's just the luxury brands off the top of my head... look at their sales - obviously people like 'em. So that's why they make 'em. Heck - the RX is Lexus' best-selling vehicle, bar none.

I think people like the 'high up' ride, the extra cargo space, and the 'cool' factor of driving an SUV, but don't like the rough ride of a BOF chassis and never intend to use the extra towing or off-road advantages of BOF.

I love our 4Runner but sometimes think my wife would be happier with one of those car SUVs instead.

Aztek I'm not sure of but I definitely see what you mean by the Vibe. The roofline looks extremely similar. Almost looks like a jacked up vibe.

Interior looks pretty good but I'm not so sure about that center stack. I don't know whether it's all the buttons or just the general design I'm not a fan of. Maybe if I saw a better pic I'd feel different.

I personally thing the interior looks horrendous....the center stack is WAY too complicated and the faux wood is over used. Is there really a need for all of those buttons on the center stack?

I guess it's just the technology geek in me that likes lotsa buttons to play with.

The nav screen seems positioned in a way that would make it not too touch-friendly - not to mention a lot of people don't like using the touch interface on nav screens since there is no physical feedback (imagine trying to type on a keyboard without actually being able to feel the keys).

And FWIW we can't be sure that wood is fake. Lexus for example has never used fake wood in any of their vehicles except for the early generation ES cars (entry level). Now days they all use real wood manufactured by Yamaha piano company. I think you might assume it's wood because it's dark/blackish - but real wood can easily be made to assume such a color; I've already seen plenty of vehicles with it in person and it's actually my favorite color since I really don't like the 'old person' vibe I get from plain ol' brown wood.

Not seeing the coolness factor at all. Looks ugly as hell. The interior is just ok to me, nothign to brag about from the video. The back looks like a rip off of the cheap *** X3 BMW.
