Unhappy Service Engine Soon light and cooling fans stay on.

Hi, I have a '94 z28 with 100k miles on it. I drove the car 30 plus miles then parked it with no problems. 8 hours later it would turn over but wouldn't start. The next morning it started a little sluggish. Fuel pressure at the fuel rail was a solid 40-42lbs. and did not bleed off. It doesn't seem to have any fuel problems now and no codes were present on my scan tool. I did a engine oil and trans service the same day. As soon as I started the car I have a service engine soon light and the cooling fans stay on. Still no codes. I can select clear codes and the light and fans will shut off for 1-2 seconds and then turn on again. What should my next step be?
Thank You, Bwellard

The fans are coming on because they are programmed to come on whenever the SES light is on. That is, there is a problem that caused the fans to come on. If you have a scan tool, and not just a code reader, you need to take a look at all the info the various sensors give, and take note of anything that looks out of the ordinary.

Whenever both my fans turn on my SES light comes on but turns off as soon as the fans turn off.

Cause and effect, except you have it backwards... like moparman said.

I'm having the same problem, the light comes on and then the fans turn on, when fans go off, light goes off, but mine is a 1996 trans am 5.7 ls1 I just bought the car and did new head gaskets, everything but this seems normal.. any feedback you can give me that might help? also what is normal temp for this engine, if you know. it seems to run between 165 and 210 at idle..

If you have transplanted an LS1 engine into your 96 Trans Am, what year PCM are you using? In any case you need to scan the PCM (OBD-2) and find out what code is turning on the SES. Fix the problem to eliminate the code(s) and the SES light and the fans will turn off.
