I'm looking to swap out my stock 1995 drum brakes in favor of 97+ disc brakes. My car is a 3.4 V6 automatic with ABS. Anyone done this swap before? What parts are needed? New master cylinder? What's a good donor car to take parts from - year, engine size, etc? Will the 1995 ABS system work with the one from later years? Thanks for your help!

Do a search on this forum and look through the archive. There's tons of good info here for what you're trying to do.

I highly suggust finding a full rear end out out of a ~ 94 Z28 and putting it in your 6. You will get lower gears, posi, and rear disc brakes.

Get a rear end out of a 98+ car, they have bigger disc brakes then 97 down.

I would worry about going from 2 channel to 3 on the ABS or do I have this wrong?

What's the best gear ratio for a 3.4 V6? 3.42? 3.72? And yeah, I have ABS, but I don't think I have traction control (though I'm not exactly sure how to tell). What's the best year axle to look for? Thanks for all your help by the way.

Look for a 98+ rear with a 3.42 gear ratio, and posi. Those axles would be in 6 speed v8 cars. They have a little bit bigger rotor than 93-97 axles, but all 93-02 axles have 1 piston rear calipers.

If you have traction control you would know, there would be a button to turn it on or off.

Bigger rear disk brakes are not worth the swap. The front caliper conversion is worth it though. (or so i hear)

i'm not sure but i thought 3 channel abs was on cars w/o trac control and 4channel abs was on cars with traction control

dont forget to mention 98-02 rear discs have that integral drum which is handy

and i believe 98 cars had posi, 99-02 has a torsen limited slip
not the auburn cone clutch posi

correct me if i'm wrong
