Anybody do an F1R on an lt1 yet?

I have an anoying seal leak on my D1 that is oiling my belt up. I will fix it but I was planning to go bigger next year anyway and I may do it now. What do you all think about an F1R on a well built 396 LT1?

Never seen it, and the guy on the phone at ATI had told me that the D series was the biggest that would fit without fabrication. Of course that was about a year and a half ago.....so I say do it. Then call out an 8 second import and take them out as well!

I figure their will be a little Fab work but it is only a little bigger I think I can make it fit. the piping will be the creative part. I'm about ready for an 8 second import now :) Pretty damn close with the current setup. Jeff

I haven't seen anyone with one, but from what I heard, you just have to make those aluminum stand-offs a bit bigger so the blower clears the block, and move your fans forward about 1/2"..

Nothing? Am I the only one crazy enough to try this :)? Jeff

I have an F1 on my LT1 using the D1-SC brackets. I had to grind off a little bit of the block to make the F1 fit. The F1R is a decent amount bigger than the F1 and I highly doubt that the F1R will work without having some custom brackets fabricated. http://www.camarohighway.com/MFBA/2005/FLP-0402/IMG_0363.jpg

Did you use the D1SC brackets or the D1 brackets? I have never heard of having to grind the block for an F1.

The F1 is approz .400 thicker so it moves the volute rearward causing it to hit the block until you grind clearance. The volute itself is identical externally to a P1SC or D1SC. The F1R will not fit between the block and bracket with the standard bracket orientation. Parts would need to be fabricated.

ditto all that. the f1 fits with a little grinding good luck on the f1r.

Keith from Force Fed Performance in Roseville has an Lt1 with an F1... among other things.
