mallory 685 - do I need to run an inline fuse for 12v power source?

The instructions that came with the mallory 685 say that I should hook up the red power wire directly to the battery. Should I be running an inline fuse in this wire? If so, how many amps?

Thanks,
Mike.

I am not running an inline fuse with mine if memory serves.

I don't believe I'm running one either, didn't run it straight to the battery though if I remember right.

Ok, cool!! Sounds like im ok then. I connected it to the power distribution thing that is located near the battery (dont know the correct name for it .. it has a bunch of wires attached to it via o-ring terminals and has a cover)

Always a good idea to install a fuse on any power line going to the battery. The fuse should be located as close as possible to the battery connection as any failure of the insulation of the wire between the battery and the fuse will cause a hell of a spark show.

I think I put a 25 amp on mine. Its probably on the large side but We are not protecting the box we are protecting the car. I would never run anything electrical without a fuse inside or outside the car. If you had a wreck and your wire got pinched it could cause a hell of a fire.
