Driver's side blinker does not blink anymore.
Driver's side blinker does not blink anymore.
I had a crack in my driver's side tail light, and it filled up with water, and now my blinker won't work. It just stays on. The passenger side works fine. Would replacing the flasher work for this, or is there something else going on? I don't know whether the hazard lights work, as I have never used them. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks.
Re: Driver's side blinker does not blink anymore.
The hazard and blinker flashers are separate. The blinker controls all turn signals, so if any of them work it's not the flasher. You've most likely got a rusted/corroded bulb socket.

If you taillight isn't working then it will make your turn signal stay solid like that too. Make sure you don't have a short in your taillight and try replacing your bulbs back there and see if that works.

Exactly, far as the tail light socket goes, you can get replacement sockets from the auto parts store, how you connect them is up to you. You can soder or use butt connectors

if the socket is corroded you can clean it out with a moist cotton swab and baking soda, i would recommend disconnecting the battery first before doing this. then you can wrap a light grit sand paper around the end of a pen and clean off the terminals inside the socket, then clean it out with the swab again. I would recommend using a dielectric grease on the bulb terminal/threads next time this way you will most likely avoid corrosion if this happens again. this may or may not work for you, but it has for me in the past, good luck.
