VTsullyman 12-22-2005, 08:36 AM Hey guys I have two sets of Polk component speakers. I have already done the rear install but I plan to do the front install this weekend. Are there any other camaro owners in here that have done tweeters in the front without a lot of custom fab? If so where? Any pics would be great
Thanks
Sully
EviLBoX 12-22-2005, 10:11 AM I used the angle mount brackets with my tweeters and mounted them in the small black triangles toward the front of the door at about ear level. I only had to drill a .25" hole for the wires instead of a +1" hole for a flush mount.
VTsullyman 12-22-2005, 10:13 AM Do you have a pic by any chance? I considered the angle mount but I don’t know how it was going to look.

I assume this is where you were talking about. Where on a-pillar did u do a flush mount. Are you tweeters facing the winshild or towards the inside of the car or are they facing kinda down and out? If you could take my picture and go into paint and just draw somethign so i can see where you mounted your that would be great.
Critter 12-22-2005, 08:05 PM if you mount them away from the mid range you hurt the overall quality of sound. if at all possible keep the tweeters as close to the mids as possible. i put my tweeters right by the mids in the door. if you take off the door panels,(which you will have to replace the mids) you will see a small circle cut out if the backside in the cardbord. this is where i mounted my tweets and it was super easy because the hole is already there. if you top mount like the pics you take the chance of hurting the quality of sound and drownding out the system with your highs.
VTsullyman 12-23-2005, 08:27 AM Yeah i realised that i would have timing issues if i mount them there. At the same time i wanted to try to keep peoples legs form blobking them. Thanks for the input

Critter 12-23-2005, 11:10 AM true thats what sucks about our cars.

yes- the a-pillar. i have the driver side sort of facing up and the passenger side facing towards me. they are at the bottom part of the a pillar- that is the only place that had any room behind it. the car is parked, but i will post a pic for you later on.
Critter 12-23-2005, 12:18 PM i'll see if i can get pics of my set up today
VTsullyman 12-23-2005, 08:10 PM Ok guys any pics of your install would be helpful.
VTsullyman 12-24-2005, 11:49 PM Hey guys i got it all worked out in the end. I ended up putting them in right beside the mid at the top of the carpet section on the door.
chuckd4more 01-01-2006, 08:28 PM Put some pics of the installed tweets up if you could please. I am still runing my bose speakers because I have not seen anything I like for mounting components.

What he said.

I also did this and so far have no complaints. The highs don't drown out the mids noticeably at all. Pics will be coming soon.
emperorjj1 02-04-2006, 02:42 AM so it would be a bad idea to put some tweets in those holes in the a pillar? i have thought about it for a while...
Mr. Camara's Camaro 04-02-2006, 05:30 AM How do you remove the a-pillar??
fly89gta 04-02-2006, 10:01 AM There are a few screws up top of the trim piece. Open your door and you'll see them.
pcgamer4life 04-02-2006, 04:14 PM I popped of the sail speaker grills and mounted them in there, wired them into the hatch speakers. They sound fine.
KyleBlue85Iroc-Z 04-03-2006, 09:51 PM Here's some pics of my setup:

wakebordr2006 04-03-2006, 10:47 PM so how do those tweeters sound with that placement?
KyleBlue85Iroc-Z 04-03-2006, 11:09 PM so how do those tweeters sound with that placement?
Man my car was dirty in those pics.
The placement puts them right at your upper chest/neck level. You'd really be surprised at level they play. You can MAKE them unbelievably loud, but with the right adjustments they blend in great with the door components. My HU allows me to really adjust the levels and frequencies, along with the amp too. An electronic crossover and sub are next for my system so I can get rid of the lowest stuff to the doors!
Overall I was VERY pleased with the upgrade in sound quality over the not-so-bad Bose stock 5-speaker system.
OH - and my best reason for putting them there was because they're completely hidden from the outside with the door shut! No stolen speakers. My HU is the only thing visible from the outside.
