HVAC problem
Ok after about being on full blast for around 10-15min my heater starts to smell. The other day I also set it to just blow out the top vents and then smoke came out of it. Anyone ever had a problem like this? Doesn't seem to be much air coming out either. If I turn it down to the 2nd highest setting it takes longer to smell bad. Any ideas? I just got hit with about a foot of snow so I won't be able to work on it right away but would like an idea of where to look. I am already going to check the blower motor.
Re: HVAC problem
My first inclination would be the blower. What does it smell like? Coolant, burning plastic, or something else? Any noticable difference in the blower performance between settings?

Between high and the one right below it not really. It's hard to tell what it smells like cause I have never smelt anything like it now that I think about it.
Re: HVAC problem
A burning smell would probably indicate the blower is burning up. Coolant has a unique smell and one I know all too well. You can pop your radiator cap off and take a whif to get a hint of coolant smell which would point to something heater core related but I'm sure you'd notice a leak if that was the case. Leaky heater core is more of a 3rd gen issue.
