Throwing boost on a stock bottom end..

I am writing a paper for a class, and I am writing about "what the effect of putting boost onto a stock bottom end engine." I need some input, I know what happens, been there done that. lol. I blew apart a LS6 with an ATI D-1SC supercharger. So anyone got anythin for me??

You raise the dynamic compression until you run out of octane.

Even if you run higher octane fuel, there is only so much pressure the stock parts can take.

The stock parts can take a whole lot of power at least double stock, just not detonation or other mistakes.

Youd be suprised at what even cheap crap can take with the tune right, but rattle them once and they come apart.

Ummmm, lemmee see, broken ringlands ($), bent valves ($$), egged rod bearings ($$$), bent crank ($$$$), angry wife ($$$$$$$$)........other than that, it held up well!!

I don't think the only failure mode is detonation, I think the stock pistons can only take so much heat. Sustained heat from road racing will also crack the ring lands.

I deffinetly wasnt saying they wouldnt fail under stress alone, just stating that most people would be suprised at how much power they would hold without detonation.
